Default Pharmacist moving to Prescott Valley

Im planing on moving to Prescott/ Prescott Valley to work as a pharmacist with a store in prescott valley.

I do want to live close to work but what would be better - renting in Prescott or in PV and commuting to work ?

I read a few of the archives and saw a lot about red necks/whatever, I'm a fairly conservative capitalist free market loving guy but I'm not Caucasian ethnically and nor am I christian. Will this be a problem? I'm pretty outgoing and make friends in no time but I guess my question is just how hostile is it?

I read a lot about the housing segment but most of it was before the bubble bust and so can anyone pls give me a ballpark figure of what houses cost?

Anything else I need to know, I went to school in Indiana and before that in an arid desert where the 100's were common so Im not bothered by the weather, I could care less about it.

I worked in cottonwood for about 2 months and it seemed ok, but then I worked about 50-60 hrs those weeks and didnt do much! lol! Anyways are the people like tht in c-wood, I loved them and they were pretty darn friendly. I got some weird looks but then its only natural I guess, the only other Indians I saw here was the doctors!!

Singles scene? None/some/lots

Any reply is much appreciated.
Warm Regards
GK

Hi GK. I think you will find people here to be very friendly. From a housing standpoint, my personal view would be to live in PV close to your work, but only because I do not like to commute myself. Even if you live in Prescott, you'll only be a 15-20 minute drive away. Housing prices in PV are from $150K-$300K. You can buy a nice house in the $225K range. Prices in Prescott are from $200K to as much as you want to spend. You can buy a nice house in Prescott in the $275K range. Rentals will run you about $800-$1000 per month for an 1800-2000 sqft newer house.

There are plenty of single women around. The trouble is finding out how to meet them. We have a friend who is very successful and single, but she has had difficulty meeting similarly successful single men in the area. You might want to join the Chamber of Commerce and go to some of their happy hour events. Various businesses host happy hour events to introduce their business and for Chamber members to meet each other (to discuss business or other topics).

Hope that helps. -Brian
