Renting will get you alot more home for alot less money than buying.
Please take this to heart and keep your hard earned money.
You will need it when you move here.
If your a retiree Prescott is a smart choice.
If you have a family.
No way....

Scott, thank you for being down to earth and speaking the truth. Unfortunately, these forums are filled with people who have hidden agenda's and are bias towards the truth. I appreciate your honesty.
I run a business in Prescott and things are down. Back in 2005 & 2006, I would get people on a daily basis looking to move to Prescott from California, now that is all but gone. Prescott is a tough place to live. The reason is the cost of housing is very high. Good paying jobs are scarce. Prescott Valley and Chino Valley is where the working class people live.
Making $10 a hour is the norm up here. If not for my business, I could never afford to live here, impossible. The things I hate about Prescott are:
Cost of living, not enough services, bad medical, corrupt small-town politics, expensive housing, low diversity with only Hispanic/Latino @ 9.1%, white @ 86.1%, and black @ 0.5%. This area has a lot of rednecks who hate blacks and Hispanics. Finding stuff to do is hard, Whiskey Row gets old after a week, and the area has nothing much to offer. Outdoor stuff is plentiful but bars and good restaurants are limited. Geez, people are all excited about getting a CVS and Cracker Barrel
If you are retired or have a lot of money, then Prescott would be nice. If you are not, then the area is not for you. It's a small town and area's like this are taking huge hits in today's economy.
