not younger and not older in prescott
Hi, im currenlty in colorado and set on moving back to the southwest as i have family there. ive narrowed my search down to tucson and prescott and have done two trips to both of these towns now. i like them both a lot for very different reasons. the main thing that is holding me back from choosing prescott though is the thought that i may not find my nitch. i really appreciate the natural beauty of the prescott area, the art scene there seems to be pretty good, slightly cooler weather, and i really like the small town but not completely boring feel there. i really like the dichotomy that seems to exist with the influence of the young, the artistic, and environmentally aware as well as the more southwest rancher/cowboy/quiet town feel of prescott. it does seem though that from my admittedly very limited experience that a majority of people in prescott are either very young children, 18-22 and going to precott college but dont stick around after that, or 50+ and are there to retire. i of course fall right in the middle gap and am wondering if what i think i saw is accurate? do 22-40 year olds in general seem to make prescott home? i do enjoy people from all age groups of course, but it would seem nice to have this age group as well. thanks for any input.

My wife and I moved here in '02 and we're both 34 now. We've loved it here for the most part (knock wood), but we were married when we moved here. I love Prescott, but I think a lot of people around my age would agree that it's a better place if you already have your partner. We have a female friend who is leaving town because it doesn't seem like the best place for single people in their later 20's or 30's.
Our age group feels like a real minority here, so I think it's worth asking yourself if that would be hard for you. I don't mind it much, but that's just me.

Had to chuckle at the age 50+ thing
I will be 52 this year but still perceive myself as being age 25-------------but, my body says: BS.

It's weird to be 34 and to have some people starting to think we're old. I imagine it must be pretty surreal at 52

Yeah, it seems like there are more younger folks (newborn-23) and older folks (over 45 ) here than any other age group. I'm 33 years old and the younger men are too much like kids for me and the older men think I'm still a baby ("oh, you're still a baby. Sheesh! I can't go out with you!"). It sucks here. No diversity....
Maybe I should make my own group (the 30 Something Group), where we can all get together and be with people in OUR age group for once.

Singles here don't get treated as well as married folks here. So, stay in Tucson.

Yes, our age group is almost none existence. Either the 20 something are too childish for us or the ones over 40 something tell us "you're still a baby, My gosh! I can't hangout with you, you don't know nothing yet!". It sucks, it really does.
Yes, married folks get treated better here than singles. I've been divorced and single since I live in Phoenix. But then I had to move here in 2004 and I get stares, gossips, and things to that nature since living here.
Especially being a single woman here really sucks! Some people here will consider you a prostitute (street walker) or your just after men's money...That's a rumor about me and it sucks...NO, IT'S NOT TRUE EITHER. Yes, I go out on dates, but I'm single and haven't found the right one yet. NO, I'M NOT AFTER ANYBODY'S MONEY EITHER...
If you're single here, they don't want to get to know you. They make up their own conclusions about you and pass it on.

I'm moving to Prescott in November. I'm 28 & single, & already know the social scene for my age group isn't great. I'll be there about a year before I relocate, although I like the area. I would rather move than stay eternally single. Most likely to Phoenix, Denver or back home to MN if I really miss it. However, I will be leaving behind three people over the age of forty. Sounds like they'll fit in just fine.

Cool! Maybe we can hangout together since we're pretty close to the same age range. When do you move here?
