Default Is Walmart Coming To Prescott Valley

Is Walmart coming to Prescott Valley in 2010 or did the city stick their greedy hand out again to chase another business away like they did to Trader Joe's?

This is from Walmart's website
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. - Walmart U.S. To Create More Than 22,000 Jobs In 2009

Walmart announced plans to open 142 to 157 new or expanded stores during the 2010 fiscal year in the United States.
.
The company will create more than 1,000 jobs in several individual states. For example, the company will create approximately 1,300 jobs in Arizona; 1,000 jobs in California; 1,300 jobs in Florida; 1,500 jobs in Michigan; 1,200 jobs in New Jersey; 1,000 jobs in South Carolina; 1,200 jobs in Utah and 1,100 in Virginia.

Maybe I'm way off base but I thought it was already there. I've been to a store there.

Walmart will be building a store on Glassford Hill Rd next to Kohl's. They own the land there. The question is when. Walmart was supposed to begin building the Prescott Valley store in 2008, but they pulled back due to the down turn in the economy. More than likely, the store will not be built this year. Perhaps in 2010 or 2011. Walmart has not yet applied for any permits with the city to begin building. As the previous poster mentioned, there are two other Walmart stores in Prescott.

We don't need a Wal-Mart in P.V. We have one in Prescott off the Hwy. 69. It's only 8 minutes from P.V. Unless you're just lazy to drive 8 minutes to there, but we don't need another one. Thanks...

A Walmart in PV is not simply about being too lazy to drive 8 miles. It's about taxes. Cities survive on sales taxes. Right now, all of the PV residents are sending their sales tax to Prescott when they shop at Walmart. I do not know what the annual number is, but I bet it is HUGE.

Okay. I checked your profile. Have I seen you before? Do you and your wife used to go to the Y-Not Lounge? Well, if you have then they know me by Jody (my nickname). Nice to meet you...
