Our sweat lodge ceremonies have been practiced for centuries. There is a very specific way to go about it. Not to mention the fact that, we humans were probably in a lot better physical condition in the olden days.

exactly- this is what happens when these new agers steel our ceremonies. they dont know what they are doing, and when a sweat is done right this doesnt happen

Sedona was the perfect storm for the entire scenario. A beautiful town with many retired people. No industry for work. Creative entrepreneurs used new age modalities to beef up the travel and tourism trade. What may have began as a sincere effort has attracted many charlatans and snake oil salesmen.
The Angel Valley Retreat has a .org website. The even have a button on their site for donations. In their property tax records they list the property type as a motel. The owner's name listed in the property records is Divera Hamilton, yet that name is never mentioned in the "about us" section of the website.

It's located off of 89A between Page Springs and Sedona.

Not entirely correct, jaada. Ceremonies weren't stolen, they were sold by unscrupulous medicine men, if they were ever true medicine men to begin with. There are charlatans everywhere, in every culture. And there always were.
This debacle started a long time ago when The Dalai Lama said that the southwest was the holy center of the universe. In centuries past, it had been Tibet - everybody and their brother had to make a pilgramage to Tibet, hang Tibetan prayer flags, etc. People who didn't understand what he meant jumped on the spiritual bandwagon....what a great opportunity to make some cash!
This guy is a crook. And a coward. Maybe the IRS can bury him, I hear they go about their searches in a very spiritual way.
Beware of the man whose God is in the skies. GBShaw.

Yup I can agree here. The Dali Lama is nothing more than a bogus religious figure who self appoints himself into the position of a god to the people. I don't understand the politicians and media who fall all over this guy. He's no different than a televangelist in the United States. As far as these clowns on Sedona, I hope the government one day takes them to task as they hopefully will do with evangelists.

It is unfortunate that you have no understanding of the H.H. XIV Dali Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, and what he represents, but that is another issue altogether.
Having followed this situation closely, I can tell you that it isn't especially "clowns in Sedona" with the exception of Angel Camp as the venue. James Ray operates out of Northern California and only comes to Sedona for a 5 day retreat. Actual negligence will be determined at a later date but the investigation has been ramped up to a homicide rather than accidental death. I do believe that James Ray may be approaching his day of reckoning.

Arizona1...perhaps I wasn't clear. In no way was I trying to tie The Dali Lama in with the 'business' of
what happened in Sedona. The Dali Lama is neither bogus, nor a self-appointed anything. Please do not lump every religious person in with those who are seeking only profit.

My question about this, is, if I was in a dark, hot place, with alot of people, first I would not go in, but if I did, I would want OUT within ten minutes. Were these people somehow not able to get out at all?
