You got great answers!
I like some of the answers here, especially the 'not so computerized' one. PRESCOTT is a fun place and there ARE lots of things to do although personally the Bird Cage is not on my list. It smells badly, no offence, I prefer Jersey Lily's. I used to play music there. Intresting to see all the posts from Chino Valley, there didn't used to be anyone out there but a few cowboys.
Prescott went through a dramatic change in the early millenium. The power of the media! It was featured as "Best Place To Live" on some TV program and BOOM it just exploded! It was a sleepy little town and very easy going. I could ride my bike down to Lyzzards, get buzzed and pedal home without the least worry. Now, riding a bike ANYTIME is certain death. The comment about "Californicated" is very true. It changed so fast that it was shocking.
So... I moved to Jerome.
Now, as for Flagstaff, Sedona, Prescott, I vote no because these places are so very different. Flagstaff is a college town and despite meteoric growth it's character is still defined by the student life. Sedona is kind of going the other way from Prescott or Flagstaff. It has a greater level of sophistication but is not growing so much and is still a very mellow town.

Prescott also attracts the rugged, individualistic, western, cowboy type. Thus they are not as enamored nor as dependent upon their pc's as, say, an unemployed housewife sitting home all day.
Prescott attracts partiers too! So maybe they're down on Whiskey Row, quaffing a Wild Turkey & water at The Birdcage.
That's where I'd be!
Peace.
p.s. I sure do miss the old Prescott; It's a shame it got Californicated!

as far as the city data activity from prescott area, i'd have to agree with the above poster that most of us are out and about!! GREAT area. I came from southern california, and am glad it is not totally CALIFORNICATED, but i have heard from some long time locals here in prescott, that it has gotten too big.
and imho, prescott valley is downright ugly, but there you have it!!!
have a great day out and about all you
