Default Chino Valley Facing $1.26MIL Deficit

Denied:1up! Software ()

The Chino Valley Town Council stated that the town is facing a $1.26 million deficit in its general fund for 2010-2011.

Talks of increasing water rates, city taxes, property taxes and the like were being discussed.

While $1.26 million might not seem like a lot for a city, but for a small town like CV, it is a lot of money.

What ways do you think the city can make up for that deficit?

They can always cut back on non-essential services. Or they can cut back employee hours like PV did. In PV, the employees opted to cut hours rather than have people laid off. Or they can postpone projects.

In many respects, Government finances are the same as household finances. In a household, if one income earner loses a job or your salaries are reduced, you cut back. You go out to dinner less, you drop cable TV, you postpone buying new clothes, etc.

All the folks that hate growth will not have to cough up money that could have been paid for by new businesses.

My sis works for UPS for twenty years and she had her route cut because it's mostly commercial. Business clients are not purchasing and doing biz the way they use to. Moderator cut: cut
