We are considering possibly retiring to the outlying rural Prescott area and have not been able to find out if there are any pet limits per zoning or ordinances particularly as applies for cats? We do have two horses and it seems like there might be a limit of 2 per acre in the areas where horses are allowed but nothing about cats? We are thinking of a manufactured home on a couple of acres and would have the cats in an outbuilding with attached chain link outdoor enclosure. These are our personal pet cats, all are spayed, fully vaccinated etc., we don't do any breeding, selling, boarding etc.so not looking for a business type situation like a "kennel". However is there is a limit on cats is there any exemption like getting a conditional use permit, a kennel license or?? Does this sound like a do-able idea in the outlying areas? Thank you, Sue

I have never heard of "cat" limits, but I think small animal limits (e.g., chickens) are ten per acre. Call Yavapai County Planning and Zoning (928) 771-3214 and ask them. City zoning laws or subdivision CC&Rs may further restrict the limits, so be sure to check with the city planning department if you are moving within the city limits and check the CC&Rs if you are moving into a regulated subdivision.

Are we talking 10 cats or a hundred? Just curious.
