Default Considering moving to Prescott; what do you NOT like the area?

There's a good chance we'll move to Prescott. Have only driven through once or twice but plan to visit again. What are the negatives about living there? What do you NOT like about the area?

There's no Korean restaurant. I wish we had one here.

I do not like the fact that I have to drive from my home off of Copper Basin near the Timberridge area, all the way to Prescott Valley just to go to a movie or shop at a Kohl's. Seems to me that Prescott could stand the same options as far as shopping as they do out in PV..but many would disagree with me, I'm sure.

Clearly you should sell your Prescott house and move to Prescott Valley, which is undoubtedly the better city

What are the advantages of Prescott *Valley*? Okay, no Korean restaurant, how about sushi restaurants? Must have sushi.

There are three sushi restaruants - all in Prescott unfortunately. I was half-kidding about Prescott *Valley*. Prescott is the older, more established city. It has more historic areas and is more affluent. Prescott Valley is a newer city, but is more growth friendly and newer businesses are moving into Prescott Valley. Prescott and Prescott Valley are about 20 minutes drive away from each other.

Hey but you know....I come up to Prescott for the trees! :-) When we were looking to buy in the area, we did consider PV, but it just seemed like it was "Phoenix lite"...we thought, if we're going to spend the $$, let's make it as different from the valley as possible. With that comes the sacrifice of shopping. I suppose there are worse dilemmas to b**ch about.

I don't like the increased traffic in the past couple of years, due to new people moving here...

In all seriousness, my pet peeves are:

1 - The lack of good paying jobs
2 - The lack of good restaurants
3 - The lack of good shopping (I'm sorry but Gateway Mall is lame)
4 - The lack of good & accessible medical care (have to drive 100 miles to Phx to see a specialist)

One thing FOR SURE, you better have money or a good paying job lined up BEFORE you move here.

Year round weather
Great shopping, Mall, Costco, Sam's Club, Kohl's, Ross Dress for Less.
Haven't dined in all the restaurants but there are a variety.
Not too much traffic in Chino Valley, always drive the country roads.
People are friendly
The Beauty, it has Montana Skies living here and viewing the mountains in the distance is breath-taking. The scenery of the 3 lakes doesn't get any better. And in no time, you can be in Flagstaff, Jerome, Sedona, Payson or Phoenix. One a day's drive to San Diego.

And last but not least, is the fresh air.

The only thing I do not like is in the spring months you get wind but not everyday.

BTW: Wonderful Yavapai Hospital.

Ok, I have to ask, outside of the cost of a home, why do you say you better have money to move there? Based on the utilities, insurance, etc I have been reading about, they are comparable to most places I know. Food and eating out has gotten expensive no matter where you go as is gasoline, so just what is it that requires so much money to live in Prescott?
