For College:

-Oklahoma (based on 7 AP national titles, 47 win game streak, over 40 conference championships, only program with 4 coaches with 100 wins or more, and best overall winning percentage in modern era, tradition-laden as all get out)
-Notre Dame (8 AP titles, nuff said)
-Bammer (7 AP titles, one of the quintessential programs in terms of tradition, darling of the SEC, Bear Bryant anyone?)
-USC (many AP titles, tons of tradition)
-Ohio State (stalwart of the Midwest, can't have OSU in there without "Meechigan")
-Michigan (same as above)
-Nebraska (came on strong in the seventies and sustained a high profile program well into the nineties)
-Texas (4 AP titles, lots of tradition and undisputed king of the old Southwest Conference)
-Penn St. (a legacy of great "old school" football, JoePa is a living legend)
-Florida State (Bowden = another legend, FSU on the rise again?)
-Miami (one of the great programs of the 80's, just gotta keep their players out of jail)
-LSU (somewhat of a johnny come lately, but the future looks very bright)
-Florida (same as LSU)

An interesting point to take note of: 7 of the top-tier programs listed above are from Southern states (OK, AL, TX, FL, LA), while Midwestern states (IN, OH, MI, NE, PA) carry 5 top-tier tradition-laden programs, with the West providing one top-tier program (CA = USC), respectively.

Like Acuda, I think a translation is STILL needed. Is it THAT hard to write something that makes sense these days? WTH?

He is asking which teams are the most well known - even among people who have never watched a game in their life. Basically, which teams have the biggest brand recognition.
