Can't find a link but I just saw a quick clip that 2007 first overall pick and former Raider QB JaMarcus Russell was arrested today for illegally possesing codeine cough syrup.
What's funny is a lot of rappers that claim they sip "purple drank" have weight problems. LOL!

So all along he was simply in the wrong line of work, good to know he's found his true calling and I will anxiously await his upcoming release.

Why would an athlete take stuff that slows you down and makes you fat? A noncommitted one. Lots of the H-town rappers are into "The Syrup" and unfortunately so are many kids. Thats why I have to sign a bunch of forms if I get sick and want cough syrup.

JaMarcus Russell= Epic Fail

No wonder he is so slow to pick up coverages and read defenses, he sips syrup, that stuff makes you move slower than pond water.

Isnt that other 1st round bust Ryan Leaf in jail right now for prescription meds as well??

Interesting habits by former 1st round Raider QB's: Russell sipped sizzurp which is a downer. Todd Maranavich used crystal meth which is an upper. I got an idea for ole senile Al: do a background check or ask a shrink to give them a psychological exam. I know any good psychology professor can tell you within 10 minutes if they have the substance dependence frame of mind. I guarantee the majority of NFL teams do this.
I remember this draft too. I'm usually on the fence or swing and miss with high pick QB's but I could see this guy busting from a mile away. All he did was play well in the Sugar Bowl against Brady Quinn and throw a ball 60 yards from his knees. Other than that he had nothing going for him. Then I remember it leaked that Miles told scouts he was always the last to practice and first to leave. I remember saying the Raiders should take Joe Thomas or Calvin Johnson.
Even funnier is the fact that Kevin Kolb, with a whopping 2 career starts, has established himself as the best QB in the 07 draft.

Al Davis' grievance against JaMarcus may have just gotten a lot stronger with this development. If Al wins, that may put Russell in the poorhouse.

I'm with twista on how his busting was only a matter of time. Wanted him to suceed but too much instinct telling me that he was gonna flop. If I was a GM I would never take a QB in the upper first round. I would probably do a second-round or very bottom first round pick.

A million dollar arm with a ten cent brain. Too bad.

I'll say this again. These players think they're bulletproof. They're not.

If I was a millionaire, I would feel pretty embarrassed to have to resort to cough syrup to get high. Heck, I'm far from wealthy and I would feel ashamed.

What a waste... It's like GOD played a joke on him by giving him all the physical tools but no brain.

So you mean he's not an innocent saint like Michael Vick?
