Being a life long Bears fan, that amazing comeback against the Cardinals on Monday night, and that post game rant, it was just a magical game in an amazing season.
I was hoping to "unsticky" this thread until after the 2012 season, but it's slowing down a tad. Hopefully some people will add some more comments to keep this thread active. Thanks for all the comments/stories. If it gets activity that's notable I might sticky it, for 2011 season I will sticky it.
Thought I'd activate this thread again. There are a lot of new posters who have signed on to City Data that might show interest here. Would appreciate your input. I'll keep this a "sticky" for a while.
Lots and lots to choose from but my favorites is the 1979 Season finale; Cowboys vs Redskins at Texas Stadium. See saw battle. The skins were up 17-0, Cowboys battle back to take lead 21-17. The Skins score the next 17 to make it 34-21 with only 3 minutes left. Roger Staubach in his final regular season game leads the Cowboys on a dramatic last minute comeback as the Cowboys score 2 touchdowns in the final minutes. The last being a corner route to Tony Hill. Cowboys win 35-34. Staubach was famous for these type of miracle comebacks.
If you never saw Staubach play and only look at his stats you probably think, what was so special about him. This Redskins game was the epitome of Staubach. He always kept his team in the game and his team and fans always believed they had a chance to win the game no matter what the score with Staubach under center. He was the best Clutch QB I ever saw.
The '85 Bears, can't pick out a game, the whole season!
I can specifically remember the Bears first round playoff game against the Giants. In retrospect, it was probably the only somewhat challenging game the Bears had to play, and they still won it, 21-0. That was the game where the wind was so severe that the Giants punter Sean Landeta actually 'whiffed' on punting the ball, which led to the opening score of the game for the Bears. The Giants had the ball inside the Bears 5 yard line before half, and were going to cut it to 7-3, but the Giants kicker, Eric Schubert, missed a 23 yard field goal attempt, and in my estimation the game was effectively over at that point.
