I cannot be about a team like that. What about Hawthorn? I need a gritty, scrappy team. Preferably from a good, hard working town.
There is no salary cap because nobody thought the labor agreement would go this far without being done. I'm 99% sure there will be a work stoppage now. It is the NFL Administration pushing it now...I don't know how many of the owners are staunchly behind Goodell right now...probably a vast majority of them. MO MONEY.

hmm no way Hawthorn
Pretty boys.
A good hard working team would be the bulldogs. Their location is Footscray, pretty working class. maybe North Melbourne kangaroos - both clubs do it "tough" with limited funds and so on. North Melb have a history of tough gritty wins too - these clubs aren't that successful though.
I'm a bit surprised that there is no cap. Presumably there is a year or so to negotiate?
They want to extend to 22 games. 4 preseason and 18 regular season.
Incorrect. The owners want to keep the number of games at 20, but they would replace 2 of the current 4 preseason games with 2 additional regular season games.

So they've already conceded their leverage? I thought they would say 22 games..."Yay more for fans." Then when the players come back with their concerns...they would state that they would eliminate 2 preseason games.
I like that the Players Union finally seems united. I hope they strike...or at least for sure get a bigger share of the pie if they play 2 extra games....and of course for 2 extra regular season games there needs to be more than 53 men on a roster.

The issue with preseason games is that fans constantly complain that there's no value for them. As a season ticket holder, I get that. We have to pay the same price for preseason games we pay for regular season games for the priviledge of watching a bunch of scrubs, most of whom won't make the roster.
In response, the players have made a valid point -- without those two extra preseason games, how many good undrafted rookies in the league today wouldn't be there? Peyton Manning noted that Jeff Saturday might not be in the league had there been only 2 preseason games. Tony Romo wasn't drafted. Perhaps he wouldn't have made the league? Who knows? Players are also right to point out that replacing those preseason games with two more real games would mean more wear-and-tear on their bodies, for which they should be compensated.
On the other hand, the early first-round signing bonuses are completely out of hand. The hard salary cap and lack of guaranteed contracts also bring greater parity to the league, which in turn sustains fan interest.
Both sides have valid points. Note that there won't be a strike. The owners will most certainly lock out the players on March 1 if a new CBA isn't agreed to before then. Still, I can't help but believe that the 2011 season will take place in full. There's simply too much money at stake for the owners and players not to come to some sort of compromise agreement.

I agree with everything you said except the last part. I think there will be a stoppage even if it only takes out the Preseason...maybe the first week. A year ago I would have told you there was no way 2010 would be an uncapped year.
I agree about the ST prices..as I am also a ST holder. I wish I'd get one of the games for free or something...but whatever. Actually, I kind of wish that Preseason games would be spread all over the game so they would be what they are, exhibitions.
they need to show these guys how replaceable they are. not saying the owners are right, but why deprive us of a season? let the UFL guys either bring their league or shift ALL ufl players to the nfl. GREAT IDEA
