I loved his work on Monday Night Football when Don Meredith left for a few years and went to NBC. And of course it's safe to say he stayed busy in tv and movies for the next 15 years or so after his retirement.

As far as him NOT being in the HOF, he might have rubbed sports writers the wrong way when he was tied in with the gambling scandal that involved him and Green Bay Packer HOFer Paul Hornung in 1963. It's been documented on several sites and tv specials (ESPN Sport Century profile on Paul Hornung being one of them) that Hornung was apologetic and expressed remorse and some feel Karras didn't show the type emotion that Hornung did when Rozelle suspended both of them for the 1963 NFL season.

Regardless, Karras was a great player for 13 years with Detroit. And went to 5 pro bowls, one as an injury replacement. He was also on the 1960's NFL all-decade team.
Just saw on CNN that Karras has passed away. May he RIP.

The season is salvaged for now. All I have is clips on NFL.com and Mitch Albom's story in the Free Press as a frame of reference. I opted to save some cash and do a few things around the house. Had a weird feeling they might win in Philly if I didn't watch the game. Last season, I believe, they won every game I missed (not many but, still, a trend that is always on my mind).

Dont understand why we wait until the 4th quarter to come alive. Great win but we have to do better.

A win is a win but I was convinced this was the year the Lions would really break out and be a standout franchise. It's looking like an 8-8 or 9-7 kind of a season (maybe even 7-9). There's still plenty of games left to turn the corner but I don't see it. There's still too many weakness' and injuries. I still have high expectations for the future. We have solid pieces in place to build on.

Delmas is back.

Thank goodness.

130 yrds in penalties?

Ughhh.

False starts and offsides mostly.

Got lucky today.

We knew the defense was our achilles last season and the fact that Schwartz and Mayhew failed to address that issue is beyond comprehension. Our secondary is still **** poor. If not for the spark Delmas brought in the last game, it would have been a nightmare.

Anyway, time to show these Cubs fans who their daddy really is....Lions football all day, every day. Cant wait

Sheesh.

Couldn't find the end zone until 30 seconds left in the game.

Fumbles killed us.

How does one muff a fair catch?

Even Megatron dropped a couple.

No team has ever won the NFC Norris division after losing the first 2 division games.

Such a head scratcher, when you consider how far they came along last year. I certainly expected them to build on that season and be even better, just don't get it.
