Interesting read and %'s don't look that bad but as we know, stats and on paper doesn't compute to on field success. Take TT, GB fans are hard on him. Defense was awful in 2011, better this year, heavy D draft, they are crucifying him for not going heavy Oline! Ideally a few of each would be nice, GB is draft/develop, BAP not reaching too far to get players.

Fans are tough lot these days (not meaning you just in general) because of all the availability of the stats, draft on TV, and they really expect amazing success all the time.

Detroit is hard to figure, I was so convinced it would be a 3 way dog fight in the standings right to the end preseason. I am surprised about the Lions.

There's only one reason for Lions fans to enjoy the final 2 weeks of the season. Calvin Johnson has 2 games left to attain 182 receiving yards. Reaching said number of yards would put him in the NFL record book, besting the record set by Jerry Rice in '95.

I hope Megatron brings the record back to Detroit. Do a solid for Herman Moore.

Well, Megatron only needed 1 game to do it.

Lions need:

* Defensive backs.

But really, do we actually think that we can make a difference in the draft?

Lions need to buy some FAs, but who's gonna wanna play for Detroit?

Salary cap will be an issue with that too.

* Running game:

I won't give up on Leshoure yet, but young Mr. Bell out of Wayne State impressed the hell out of me. Need to use Joique Bell more.

* Coaching:

Not to worry, Coach Schwartz will be around next year, but.....if the Lions don't make the playoffs?

Bye bye.

I fully expect some assistants will be looking for work in the coming weeks.

* Intangibles:

I don't think Titus Young or Stefan Logan will be around much longer. Half of the starting defense will be free agents.

The Lions will be a different team in 2013.

We'll have to see if that's gonna be an improvement.....

...or not.

Mr. Logan has been demoted.

Mike Thomas will be the return man for the last game vs. the Bears.

The Detroit News surmises that he'll be gone soon.

Expect Scott Linehan (offensive coordinator) to stay.

The final game against Chicago has two reasons to watch. First, is Megatron attempting to be the first receiver to reach 2k yards and the second, perhaps sweeter reason, is spoiling the Bears' playoffs hopes. Revenge for '00.

Report card on 2012 from Dave Birkett.

Lions report card: Dave Birkett's position-by-position grades of the 2012 season | Detroit Lions | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

There's a lot of work to do. May the Schwartz be with us (for better or worse).

May the post Super Bowl cuts begin:

Titus Young

Kyle Vandenbosch

Stephen Peterman

All gone.

No surprise that Young is gone; he signed with the Rams hours after. He's their problem now.

Vandenbosch was old when the Lions signed him 3 years ago. While he was a captain and coach on the field, he really slowed down last year. Gonna miss his attitude and work ethic but the Lions needed to make room for the salary cap.

Peterman who?

Back up guard on his best days. Somebody will pick him up and use him for a tackling dummy.

Look for Raiola and Backus to not make final cuts for next season.

Backus is 36 years OLD and has been injury prone lately. He's done.

Raiola got beat up the last 2 seasons and prob'ly won't be able to run block anymore. He's 35 and ready to retire.

It will be interesting to see how Young does with Rams and Fisher! Isn't he a no nonsense approach kind of guy? I didn't realize Vandenbosch was signed by Lions, thought he was a long term player for them. Hope things go well for the Lions, they appear to have serious cap issues.
