The spectre of Megatron retiring is still hanging over the Lions but there's still a few positive bits of offseason news.

Cap room. Lions have it and could make a splash.

Lions, with holes aplenty, could be major player in free agency

The greatest name in coaching, Jim Bob Cooter is returning as OC. Given the upturn in Stafford's production post-Lombardi, I think this is the right move to make. Welcome back, JBC!

Jim Bob Cooter is now the permanent Lions offensive coordinator, because duh - Pride Of Detroit

The good news is that DC Austin and OC Jimbo are coming back. Perhaps with a good draft and free agency signings, they can get back into the playoffs. It's too bad they're stuck in a division with an improving Minnesota team and a Hall of Fame Green Bay quarterback. If only they could be in the current AFC South or NFC East. <Sigh>

Wow, surprised to hear that news, even though it has been in the rumor mill. I thought maybe he would give it another year, but the contract issue probably plays into it, too. Maybe the Lions can grab someone in FA to replace him.

The silver lining, the small glimmer of hope is that Megatron "plans to retire" per reports. He's allegedly going to mull it over a bit longer. Nothing official yet. I won't hold my breath because it sounds like the desire is gone much as it was with Barry.

I am not the superstitious type but, at times, I do contemplate the Curse of Bobby Layne.

The Lions organization is jumping for joy because they'll clear 20MM+ of cap space.

Understand he's a great player but this is a good thing for Detroit IMO.

I hope Megatron doesn't retire. He's a good receiver.

That's a shame about Johnson retiring, he's not that old and probably could have another good 2-3 seasons but it sounds like he has very little left in his ankles.

GM Quinn has said that winning football games starts in the trenches. Well, he's a man of his word so far in his first Lions' draft.

Taylor Decker OT

A'Shawn Robinson DL

Graham Glasgow C

Not a lot of glamour & glitz, but not a lot of trouble either.

My bet is that Robinson wins a starting job in training camp.
