Quinn is paying considerable attention to the offensive line. Very impressed with his first draft in Detroit thus far. The current OL must be on notice now.

Wow. Wrapped the draft up with another lineman and a hard hitting safety (Killabrew). Looks like Quinn isn't trying to just sell tickets, he's trying to win football games. I'll paraphrase him from an interview right after the draft:

The road to the playoffs goes through the NFC North. I realize that we play 13 games out of 16 indoors, but we're not playing in the Arena League.

End of paraphrase.

The Lions can't afford to take chances with questionable attitudes and behavior. They're filling needs while taking the best players available. It appears that Mrs. Ford has hired some really good advisors to run this team.

The Lions just got bigger and tougher.

I was scratchin' my head when they took Ruddock, but those guys know more than I do. I was somewhat surprised that Detroit didn't make any trades to get some higher picks, but I s'pose it's safe to say that the players they wanted were available at the time.

I'll add to my earlier prediction:

Decker and Killebrew will win starting jobs during training camp, along with Robinson. More of a testament on the Lions' needs rather than how good these guys are.

Mike Williams has been coaching at Locke High School in Los Angeles since 2015.

Interesting to see that Williams is still linked to Detroit while his best years as a pro happened in Seattle. The status of "draft bust" carries a lot of water.

The lowly Lions have won the Super Bowl! The biggest highlight of the Lions season has occurred before it even started.

This is a tough time a year for some hoping to rekindle or keep alive the dream of playing in the NFL. Roster cuts are rolling in as teams trim the fat, as some say. The latest cut from the Lions was Gabe Ikard, backup center. At least he has a sense of humor about it:

Happy trails, Mr. Ikard. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Did the one poor fellow make the squad? The guy who was fined more for roughing the passer than he will make total in preseason?
