Agreed. the Detroit Lions fans are a hard suffering lot to put it mildly. They've got some spots in the organization they need to work on but for the first time in many many years they're giving the fans reason for hope. It's been well over five decades since they won and NFL championship. They now have a bright future ahead.

When Lions started winning at the end of 2010, I said, watch out, the Lions are on their way!

I still think the Pack/Lions games for the next so many years, will become more of a focus/rivalry than the Bears (unless the Bears really get a handle on their team)!

Bears still primary because of the long, intertwined history of the teams, but Lions are truly up and coming, will be great to watch, see them progress!

Well Megatron just got PAID in a big way. 132 mil with 60 guranteed. They had to lock him up, but that is quite a price tag for a team that needs money to plug its many defensive holes imo. He is the best WR in the league though, so I guess he sets his own market to some degree.

Saw that and wondered about other issues the team has, their secondary, for one. Interesting!!!!

Locking in Megatron was a must regardless of other needs. He and Stafford are the key to our team.

Exactly, our offense is what carries the team, we have an awesome pass game with a LOT of people that can catch the ball.. but it would not be close to the same of Johnson wasn't there. Look at NE, they got to the superbowl with a weak defense, but they weren't going to get there with a weak offense.

An absolute requirement to re-sign Megatron at ANY cost.

The Lions can't win the division without him.

Not to worry, Lions' fans.....

the defense will come around.

Yeah but look at the prolific packers offense last year. Or the giants good defense taking them to the title. There is no black and white exact recipie. Defense is still important.

Oh I fully agree, we have to work on our defense and bring that up. There was absolutely no excuse to lose to Green Bay last season.

However, re-signing Calvin Johnson was more important this year than worrying about anything else.

I don't understand why they would re-sign Backus with a 2 year 10 million dollar contract though...
