Caldwell's demise in Indianapolis was Manning's broken neck and a new direction for the franchise. That said, I am most interested to see how he handles Lombardi's pathetic offense. Seattle and Arizona will be huge challenges but I expect to see changes. I read that Theo Riddick was on the field, against Denver, for 57 plays and 55 of those were passes. A smart coordinator picks up on stuff like that. We need Lombardi to step up or for Caldwell to step in. If neither happens, Caldwell needs to go.

Give it time... you won't be 11-5 this year. I just looked at your schedule - I see 5-11 at best.
In case you did not look up the Wake Forest numbers... 26-63 in eight years... one winning season at 7-5. He seems to be a pretty solid guy - but head coaching is not his thing.
Look back a bunch of years in the NFL and you'd see coaches and players moved to different teams and got better. Sometimes, a change of scenery can do wonders.......

I'm not a Lions fan per se, but I loathe Seattle, so I was really rooting for them tonight and...what happened on the Lions' last offensive drive? I can't wrap my head around it. This is my tenth season following football, and I never encountered a rule that says if you fumble the ball and it winds up beyond the end zone, it's a touchback for the other team. I can't understand why it wouldn't have been a new down for the Lions, spotted at the place the ball was dropped.
Now there's the article posted above that says what happened was illegal altogether. I couldn't fully understand that article either. Can anyone break it down to simple English for me please? (BTW, I try to keep myself educated. I watch Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn on the days they focus on football, but a lot of the stuff they say goes over my head.) The fumble was legitimate, but the Seahawk defender batted the ball out of the end zone....which is illegal. That's if it's intentional, which the replay shows clearly that it WAS intentional. But the back judge that didn't throw the flag used his judgment to NOT call a penalty.
He was wrong.
The best thing that the Seattle guy could have done was to simply fall on the ball in the end zone. That would have been a true touchback.
Thanks, Yaz, I wondered, too. I don't understand why they say judgment call when batting is illegal. Call definitely went Seahawks way. Lions are 0-4, a surprise to me, I don't get where they are this year.
Such a disappointing end to last night's game. UGH!
Totally surprised me as well. The Lions should have gotten a TD, and a W from that series.
