Has anyone caught Deion Sanders whining about being #34 on the NFL Network's Top 100 list?

To me, that is pretty generous ranking for him.

He is 6 spots ahead of OJ Simpson - the first rusher to eclipse 2000 yards.

No way.

Deion went to more pro bowls and won 2 Super Bowls. He also won more first team All Pro awards than OJ. Let's not forget Deion also played wide reciever when Irvin was hurt. Unlike OJ, Deion did show up in the big ones!

Joe Montana is going to get the number one spot.

I am thinking the #1 player might be any of the following: Jim Brown, Sammy Baugh, Jerry Rice. The top defensive player, (again my opinion) will be either Deacon Jones, Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White, perhaps Ronnie Lott or Dick Butkus.

One thing about it, Steve Sabol and NFL films have done another great job. The NFL has never used anybody else for their video productions, and there is no need to. These guys have got it together and they have been doing it since 1961.

Regarding Sanders, yea, I was a tad surprised. One thing about it, he sure let Rich Eisen know about it on the NFL Network and then some.

As they are getting down to their top 30, I'll throw 30 names plus out there and see how they call it. No particular order till I get to the top 10.

Derrick Thomas
Dan Marino
Ronnie Lott
Buck Buchanan
Ray Lewis (active)
Gale Sayers
Jack Lambert
John Hannah
Dick "Night Train" Lane
Emmit Smith
"Mean" Joe Greene
Deacon Jones
Anthony Munoz
Shannon Sharpe-admittedly showing my bias
Gary Zimmerman- ---------ditto------------
Don Hutson
Larry Wilson
Barry Sanders
Otto Graham
"Slingin" Sammy Baugh
Bob Lilly

Top 10 countdown:

10. Peyton Manning (active)
9. Jerry Rice
8. Lawrence Taylor
7. John Elway
6. Reggie White
5. Walter Payton
4. Joe Montana
3. Dick Butkus
2. Johnny Unitas
1. Jim Brown

We'll see in the next few weeks how all this shakes out. And yes, I've absolutely left some players out here. Opinions people! Let's see your lists!

I'm thinking Jerry Rice might be #1.

I think Rice, Montana, Sanders, Brown are all potential #1s.

Did they already have Red Grange on their list?

I don't think Deion even belongs in the top 100. The list is a joke! Deion Sanders ahead of OJ? Roger Staubach? Terry Bradshaw? Mike Singletary? Troy Aikman? Tony Dorsett? Steve Young?

Yes. Red Grange came in at #48. Agreed on your other names, all are worthy. If only Sanders had a supporting cast around him, he could have put that record out of sight. If only.
