Joe Montana is going to get the number one spot.
I am thinking the #1 player might be any of the following: Jim Brown, Sammy Baugh, Jerry Rice. The top defensive player, (again my opinion) will be either Deacon Jones, Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White, perhaps Ronnie Lott or Dick Butkus.
One thing about it, Steve Sabol and NFL films have done another great job. The NFL has never used anybody else for their video productions, and there is no need to. These guys have got it together and they have been doing it since 1961.
Regarding Sanders, yea, I was a tad surprised. One thing about it, he sure let Rich Eisen know about it on the NFL Network and then some.
As they are getting down to their top 30, I'll throw 30 names plus out there and see how they call it. No particular order till I get to the top 10.

I don't think Deion even belongs in the top 100. The list is a joke! Deion Sanders ahead of OJ? Roger Staubach? Terry Bradshaw? Mike Singletary? Troy Aikman? Tony Dorsett? Steve Young?
I think Rice, Montana, Sanders, Brown are all potential #1s.

Yes. Red Grange came in at #48. Agreed on your other names, all are worthy. If only Sanders had a supporting cast around him, he could have put that record out of sight. If only.
