But going to jail doesn't eradicate what people think about someone's past conduct. That applies to Vick, just like it does everyone else. Why should Vick get special treatment?

What's the point of holding to someone elses past mistakes.. Isn't it more of a, headache for yourself.. I'm pretty sure vick isn't stressing screaming blogging all over the internet about some crap that happen 2 years ago..

Nobody seems to be stressing about it other than folks who believe Vick should be given special treatment. For most people going to jail doesn't wash away the past, yet there are those who claim all should be forgiven and forgotten in Vick's case.

Its why they dont allow child molestors to live near schools.

Its why multiple DUI offenders lose their driver's license.

Its why bank robbers wont ever get a job at a bank.

Its why a convicted stalker still has to stay away from their stalkee.

Its why Tiger Woods will have a tougher time than he would have finding a new full time signifcant other.

Its a societal norm, that is why.

Hmmmm
Ok, on ESPN or just about any other sports network nobody will hear a bleep about "Todays" Atlanta Falcons.
Let's see, a couple years ago the team was in the basement, unmanageable, and just about full of debris. In short, the laughing stock of the NFL.
In comes Mike Smith and I still remember the saying about "taking out the trash" and that he did!
Today's Falcons are ranked #1 currently in the NFL. A strong "young" professional team. Between the coach and players they remind me of the younger Patriots, another current well managed team.
But what do we hear? The continued bellyaching of a arrogant convict who still carries his entitlement mentality around whereever he goes. Oh! he had and "outstanding" game against the worst ranked defense in the league. Oh lordy may, is he now the second coming. Again, no news on "today" Falcons in the media.
Of course Tricky Vick does have some competition, being the arrogant child molesting felon in waiting Rothensburger of Pittsbugh. I guess Pennsylvania is taking over from the Oakland Raiders and we see what that garnered for them, a whole decade of 4-12, 3-13, and 2-14 records in the end game. Crazy Al has finally seen the light and now "today's" Raiders are starting to mimic "todays" Falcons. Hmmm isn't that interesting.

You just have to love our media of today, but then again we chew it up don't we?

Go Falcons!

Bottom line: A person can fulfill his jail time but he there is no requirement that they are given a clean slate afterwards.

Mistakes are, perhaps, one thing. Character flaws are different. INTENTIONALLY committing acts of violence and torture against another living being for NO reason other than you enjoy doing it...well, nothing else needs to be said.

A parallel to this would be Vick never being allowed to own dogs again. It says nothing about him playing football.

Er, Vick IS playing football, and being paid over $5 million a year for it.

By the way, going to jail has never meant somebody is thereafter immune from criticism. These complaints that Michael Vick must never again be criticized are bizarre. What's the basis for treating him as a special case?
