Colt McCoy knocked out of the game in the first minutes of last year's championship...the rest of the game was a joke and should have just been called off.
Until today, It was the Skins blowing a 27-7 Lead over the Eagles in 1989 and losing 42-37.
But the game that takes it's place is the Giants blow a 21 point lead in the second half and losing on a punt return with no time left
Most devastating Loss I have experience in over 20 years.
I will say my most devastating game was not a football game, but a baseball game. 2 games in the 1993 World Series....the 15-14 loss, and of course, Joe Carter's home run to win the series.
Houston up 35-3 to Buffalo in the playoffs - lose to backup QB Frank Reich.
Not devasting to me personally - but just the magnitude of that whole situation - see "The Comeback" on page 1.
Personally - Eagles NFC Championship loss to Carolina 14-3. That year, SB was in Houston and I was ready for the Eagles and the fans to raid the town - also, possible Eagles/Pats rematch.
Living in Cleveland in the 80's during the Broncos-Browns rivalary the biggest letdown I have ever seen was "The fumble" in 1988.
Ater enduring Elways comback in the playoffs the previous year in "The Drive" the Browns and Broncos were locked in an epic contest in the AFC Championship. Late in the 4th Quarter the Browns were driving for a go ahead score, inside the Broncos 10. There was going to be revenge! The Browns were going to win and go to their first ever Super Bowl after vanquishing the hated Broncos! Payback!! Sweet Sweet Victory! Kosar hands off to Byner ! He's at the Goal Line! Yes!! Yes !! Yes!! Y......
12/1/85 - Eagles take 23-0 lead into the 4th quarter against the Vikings but Minnesota scores 4 touchdowns in the last 11-12 minutes to win 28-23. The Eagles were 6-6 going into the game and a fringe playoff contender (they hadn't been in the playoffs in 4 years so being a fringe contender was notable).
The Jets being massacred by the Denver Broncos (final score wound up 46-3), and the commentators making the casual observation that the Jets would be moving out of New York City at the end of the season. Nothing like taking two devastating shots at the same time!
