Would the Raiders keep their name if they moved to Santa Clara?

Why not just rename the 49ers and Raiders to the "Bay Area _____" if that's the case. Makes no sense.

Marketing.

They would still be the Oakland Raiders
The Redskins play in Maryland... they're still called 'Washington'.
The Jets and Giants play in New Jersey.... they're still called 'New York'.
The Cowboys aren't even in Dallas County anymore.... they're still called 'Dallas'.

U of Houston, SMU, Boise State, and San Diego State are in the Big East Conference.... My point is, there is NO point in pointing out what doesn't make sense in sports, man. Seriously, if we did that, it would take all night, so just go with it.

It just seems a bit odd that the 49ers and Raiders would be playing in a 3rd area that is equal distance from each city, and still keep their names. It's not like San Jose is some small suburb like East Rutherford or Landover is.

Is Santa Clara more part of San Francisco or San Jose? Because the Niners stadium is in Santa Clara... I believe they've just broke ground.

San Jose

41 miles - Candlestick Park to Santa Clara
38 miles - Oakland Coliseum to Santa Clara

Candlestick Park to Oracle Arena & O.co Coliseum - Google Maps

Ah.

Well, still, there's just a possibility of the Raiders sharing with the 49ers. That is, if they don't move back to L.A., another possibility...
