An OP on the Pittsburgh forum once stated that most people under 30 years of age are more interested in pro hockey than football. It makes me wonder if most football fans might be in the boomer generation age group and a few years younger but the younger generation might no be that much into pro football. What do you think?

Not at all, I'm 22 and loads of people my age are into football. Most of the ones that aren't are into the "alternative/hipster" social scene and aren't into sports at all.

Nope not that I have noticed.

If anything more of the younger age groups are getting into soccer more than hockey. It will soon(relatively) go like this.

1. Football
2. Baseball/Basketball
4. Soccer
5. Hockey

6. Lacrosse

I'm around 20 years old, and I'd say the majority of the sports fans at my college campus like the NFL the most. Than it's NCAA sports, MLB, and the NBA. And than there is the smaller group of people who are into Soccer, Hockey, MMA, and boxing. For me I'd say tie between the NFL and NBA, and than MLB. So I basically follow the "big three" sports, and than some college sports.

Doesn't apply here, but I'm in Packer country where almost everyone is a fan, young to old!

Im in my mid-late 20s, and I would also disagree. It seems to me that football captures the widest range of fans my age, for sure.

Uh...every age group here has a majority obsession with football.

I prefer college football, but now that I know so many of the NFL players (bc of all the college guys I used to know moving up) and because of fantasy football leagues, I have gotten into pro football.

I am in my 50s, and my sport of choice is hockey, followed by college football.

I think the younger generation likes football just as much but those under 30 are more likely to be fans of other sports beyond football and baseball like the baby boomers. With the emergence of hockey and soccer in the U.S., you have lots of people that follow those sports just as much as football.

Pretty much my entire group of friends is huge sports fans and most of them follow multiple sports with the two most popular being soccer and football.

If you ask me (23 years old)

Football still leads over all amongst young and old for many reasons.

After that if there is a clear number two sport it's basketball. Baseball is not high on the under 30 profile save for some in diehard markets. (NY, Bos, STL, etc.)

Soccer is gaining as well, although fanbase is fractured and diffuse.

Hockey depends on region.
