^^^Wow, that's interesting. I get his point on Belichick's contributions but I personally try to avoid criticizing head coaches that have two SB rings. As far as Bill Parcells time in Dallas goes, like you said, he had to work under JJ so we'll never know for sure what he might have done there...lol.

I do think Parcells should get some credit for the talent he assmbled in Dallas.
However, isnt Whitlock's main assertion that Parcells' style rubbed off on KC's GM and the Miami organization? If that is the case, shouldnt he get credit for Belichik's success as well?

The only thing the lack of success of KC and Miami proves is that Parcells is better at coaching from the sidelines than he is from the corporate side of the field, though to his credit he was instrumental in turning Miami around in 2008. He rebuilt the Giants, Jets, Patriots, and Dallas, and also helped turn Miami around. With each of those teams he didn't have the talent to sustain a winning team over the long haul, but I don't think anyone can trivialize his accomplishments or effectiveness as a coach.

I'd like to add a few more comments about Bill Parcells to my post above. When he came to Dallas he not only assembled the team but he also instilled discipline on that team, which was sorely needed. Of course, Wade Phillips came along and erased all that discipline but that's another story...lol. I always liked Parcells, even when he was the coach of the Giants. I wish he could have stayed in Dallas a few more seasons. I also miss his press conferences in Dallas, they were classic! He didn't let the rabid Dallas media get away with anything...lol.

this is part of his mystique and he gets even more credit for his coaching b/c of his personality.
whitlock is a hack, his main goal is website hits, however, I've always felt he's a bit overrated as a coach, coaching NY teams, east coast teams and Dallas helps you gain a higher profile than say Kansas City and Arizona.
