The word "dogfight". I am so disgusted with this word! After the awful Michael Vick situation, you'd think these guys would have learned something. Dogfighting is horrendous, sick and so low class. I know the context in which the word is used, but I would be so embarassed if I said it on national tv. Can't they come up with a better term?

When a player says 'dogfight' when describing a game, i don't think of actual DOG FIGHTING, i think of a tough game..

And when I heard dogfight, I think of the aerial war battles...

Michael Vick never even enters my mind.

Yeah, this is just hyperbole, guys also say things like "going to war," etc. I don't really get bothered about this kind of stuff

It's not literal and if that bothers you you should not be watching sports.

spot on...

"The term dogfight has been used for centuries to describe a melee; a fierce battle between two or more opponents. The term gained popularity during World War II, although its origin in air combat can be traced to the latter years of World War I.[3] The first written reference to the modern day usage of the word comes from Fly Papers, by A. E. Illingworth, in 1919, “The battle develops into a ‘dog-fight’, small groups of machines engaging each other in a fight to the death.”[4]"

I agree with this. It's like working for a company called Ground Zero Electrostatics. The word came along way before the despicable act.

Hate the player, not the game? Or build a bridge and move on... your choice.

Oh good grief. Out of all the foul language you hear on TV during games, "dogfight" bothers someone? Dogfight was popular in sports conversation pre-Vick. Wonder why no one gets bothered when someone says something is murder?
