After all the hype all season about the undefeated season ect, then to get worked in their own stadium after a bye week?

I'm trying to remember similar collapses in the NFL. The 1987 49rs I believe went 14-2 and were heavy favorites to win the Superbowl when the 8-8 Vikings smoked them in the playoffs after their bye week and it wasn't even close.

The 90's Chargers had some great teams that flopped in the playoffs.

Are there any worse than the Packers?

I don't see this as some kind of major collapse. They got beat by a hot team playing very well. It certainly is not worse than NO getting beat by Seattle last year.

The Packers are the first 15-1 team to lose in their first game, so from that stand point they are the worst. Indy had at least one 14-2 that lost in their first game recently so they're pretty close.

Neither do I.
One loss to a better (at least that day) team is not a major collapse...

when I think of collapse I think of a prolonged disintegration over a number of weeks so no, I wouldn't think of the pack's loss to the Giants as a collapse. Maybe more along the lines of.... an "unrealized expectation of certain Super Bowl victory because Vince would have wanted it that way..."

The thing about this Packers team is they really have nothing they can point at to explain the collapse. They were playing with the same team and everyone was healthy as far as I know. The '98 Vikings went 15-1 and lost in OT to the Falcons in the NFC CG--BUT Johnny Randle was hurt in the previous playoff game vs the Cardinals and was essentially playing on one leg. That was a huge blow for the Vikes as that defense without Randle was weak at best.

Packers WR's dropped passes, the QB misfired on his throws, the coaching staff called bad plays. It was a team effort really.

This is just what happens when you have a crappy game against a good team. You get your butt whipped. Packers had a great run and they are still a great team. It happens.
