What if Joe Montana played for the Jets his whole life?

What if Aaron Rodgers played for the Bengals in 2010-2011?

What if Eli Manning played for the Packers in 2007, and Favre played for the Giants?

What if all these hypothetical questions actually mattered? They don't.

* these haven't ever really won anything at the NFL level and some like Matt Ryan actually do national commercials!!!

(the biggest of that bunch for media hype are Rivers, Ryan, Flacco)

where's Matt Cassel? I NEVER hear his name mentioned.

you could say "he plays in Kansas City" but St. Louis, Baltimore, Denver, Detroit, and Houston aren't exactly "sexy" locations either

I love how the Brady people can never answer the question: what if Tom Brady played his whole career in KC, how many rings would he have?

Also I should have clarified, Cassel was Top 10 in the NFL in passing touchdowns and passer rating in 2010, and came close to the same stats he had in 2008 with the Patriots. So that kills your argument that he isn't as good without the Patriots, he still throws just as good and plays just as good, albeit with a less talented team around him. But then compare his stats to Brady's with the Patriots:

Cassel 2008- 3693 yards, 63.4 completion rate, 89.4 passer rating, 21 touchdowns

Brady 2007- 4806 yards, 68.9 completion rate, 117.2 passer rating, 50 touchdowns

Brady 2009- 4398 yards, 65.7 completion rate, 96.2 passer rating, 28 touchdowns

Brady 2010- 3900 yards, 65.9 completion rate, 111.0 passer rating, 36 touchdowns

Clearly with the same team, Brady is still far superior to Cassel. And this is looking at Brady's last three years prior to the 2011-2012 season, you still have to look at Brady's earlier seasons.

I think one reason he doesn't get the respect he may deserve is because up until last season he stood in his brothers shadow. Peyton is the charismatic, charming, take charge leader, while Eli was sort of the quiet, reserved type who doesn't really have a command presence in the huddle. You can see it in his demeanor and body language and that "labotomy look" he gets on his face after tossing an INT. He's emotionless and always has the same look on his face regardless if they are winning or losing. Fans and the media like their QB's to stand out...whether it's the rugged get-the-job-done style of Steve Young, John Elway, or Kurt Warner, the charismatic and charming types such as Joe Namath, Terry Bradshaw, or Jim McMahon, or the ones who demonstrate superior leadership in the huddle and pocket such as Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, and Tom Brady.

Eli has developed and improved a great deal over the course of his career. He's come a long way, even since the SB in 2008, but he just doesn't have that Hollywood QB presence about him, that extra spark that the fans and media have come to expect from high profile QB's.

Regardless, so long as he remains healthy and can be consistent, he'll go down as a top ten QB before it is all said and done, especially if he can help muster a win in two weeks.

I'll take this one as this is my area

the Packers would've been in the super bowl that year, plain and simple.

heck, they would've won a few more with Mark Brunell as their QB all those years.

in 1996, the year the packers won the super bowl, Brunell threw for over 4,000 yds with Jax at a time when it wasn't nearly as common as today.

the packers had Brunell, Ty Detmer, Matt Hasselback, Aaron Brooks and even had Kurt Warner in camp.

The Packers would've won more SB's in the 90's if it wasn't for Brett Favre and his "gunslinging" read: toss it up into double and triple coverage instead of just throwing it away like a regular QB.

(oh yeah, the crown on the Dallas field was just too extreme for him and he couldn't adjust LMAO)

Because after that game

1. The Giants were one and done in the playoffs the next season
2. The Giants missed the playoffs after the 2009 season
3. The Giants missed the playoffs after the 2010 season

So there is no consistency and the SB win was more about the defense that year. So if Eli can lead the Giants to a SB win next week and lead his team back to the playoffs next season then he can start being called an ELITE QB

That is some faulty logic. Football is a team sport. If teams won solely because of the QB, the Dolphins would have multiple Super Bowls under Marino.
Eli is an elite QB and all but a couple of teams in the NFL would love to have Eli instead of their QB.
