Great points! I've always watched the SB, no matter who is playing, but I love my football, following many teams for many years!

So, because people you know didnt pay attention to the game it isnt about the game anymore? Good to know to know that people you know dictate the world.

It is about the game and it is a football game just like any other. There are no more commercials shown during the Super Bowl than any other regular season NFL game. They are allotted the same amount of TV timeouts as any other game. The only difference is that companies premiere new commercials during the Super Bowl. The commercials and halftime show wouldnt happen if it werent for the football game.

Absolutely, yes. Your average 1980's/early 90's Super Bowl viewer is a completely different beast than today's viewer. The crap surrounding the game is bigger and more talked about than the actual game itself. No question about it. Don't you think it is kinda sad that your favorite sport's the memorable Super Bowl moment during the last 10 or so years is a boob pooping out of a dress? You can have that crap, I'll stick to the Stanley Cup.

But why do you care so much? Watch the game and block everything else out, simple as that. For me, it's about the game, everything else is just an added bonus. I think it's fun for the game to be such an event. I like seeing what the new commercials will be, I like having a halftime show, but just like every other NFL game I watch, I pay attention and enjoy the game, especially the Super Bowl because of how it's so important because a champion will be crowned at the end.

And how do you know its not about the game anymore? The commercials and halftime show are pretty much only talked about the day of and the day after and only minimally. The radio stations and sports tv shows make hardly any mention of any of that. Their mostly talking about the game and everything leading up to the game. Hell, the only people I know who really are more concerned about the halftime show and commercials are females who don't care much for football. But, you know what, its fun to see good looking girls watch a football game with you, even if its for the stuff other than the game, but that's ok with me

Don't you think it's kinda sad that you came here just to trash a sport that's STILL #1 in this country? Don't you think it's kinda sad that you're just that ignorant of what else goes on with the Super Bowl (i.e. THE GAME)? Don't you think it's kinda sad that you can't accept the fact that it's the biggest event in the country?

Get over yourself, dude. If ya don't like the NFL, stay off the Pro Football board.

There are several things wrong with your post:

1. The viewership hasnt changed. Most people in this country watch the Super Bowl since the 80s. Your point might be better if you had said 60s, early 70s.

2. You basically proved yourself wrong in your own post. The stuff "surrounding" the game is exactly that, it surrounds the game. Once the game kicks off, it is no different than any other game. If you dont like the crap surrounding the game, dont watch the pregame show because once the game starts, it is just another NFL game with a long halftime.

3. Football is not my favorite sport.

4. The most memorable Super Bowl moment is not that wardrobe malfunction. I can name 50 things over the last 10 years that are far more memorable than that. I didnt even remember that happened until you posted it.

5. You seem to fail to realize that not everyone views things the same way or that the Super Bowl is a football game. The only difference between the Super Bowl and other football games is that the halftime is 15 minutes longer and the winner is crowned champion. Nothing else is different. I would love for you to tell me what is different about the Super Bowl compared to other football games because there isnt anything else. You are just being overly critical and dramatic.
