Belichick will use this controversy to his advantage:

"We are all aware of the controversy regarding football under-inflation. What a crock. It is as if the media thinks the reason we win is because we cheat. No, the reason we win is because we are talented, work hard, and we do our jobs. Let's go out there and beat Seattle and show the league, the media, and the world what this team is really made of..."

If it all came out they'd both be banned from the game and Brady would never see the Hall of Fame.
You push the envelope, you get caught, you pay the fines and take your lumps (suspension, whatever).

This is not juicing or some distinct competitive advantage that makes the difference between winning and losing. It's an integrity issue. It's one thing for the likes of Barry Bonds to be kept out of the hall. But if you think for a moment video taping practice or 2 PSI's in a football is what has made the Patriots win, you are mistaken.

The punishment should fit the crime. $500k and draft picks fit the Spy Gate crime. If found guilty, I would expect similar penalties. But to say banned and no hall, sorry, but that does not fit the rules that were broken.

Latest theory that I have read. Both teams inflate footballs in a room at 72 degrees. Colts go with max 13.5. Pats go with minimum 12.5. Taking them out into 50 degree weather will cause approximately a 1 lb loss. Colts end up at 12.5, still legal. Pats at 11.5, not legal.
Of course, then there are players who are saying that the refs seldom check balls with a gauge, they just squeeze them.

I'm glad I "ain't us."

"It's an integrity issue." Truer words have never been spoken.
