Was shock to hear about Jimmy G being traded to the 9ers for a 2nd round pick. Thought he could get a 1st round pick like Sam Bradford did but those 1 and 1/2 games Jimmy G started last year must not been enough of a sample size. He did have a bad injury as well.

But with Jacoby Brissett being traded to Colts...I thought Jimmy G was gonna take over for Brady when he retire. Then with Edelman injured...who gonna take over if Brady gets hurt. We know Pats not gonna sign Kaep. Hoyer is OK as backup but Jimmy G would've made them more competitive it seems.

I personally wanted Brady to retire after this season and then have Jimmy be the guy in the future. Clearly Tom and the Patriots have other ideas.

New England were no going to re-sign him give the cost to do so, nor use the franchise tag on him. Might as well try and get something for him and they got a nice pick - it's going to be a very high (probably first or second) 2nd round pick.

I am also going to guess Hoyer is brought back in. He knows the offense and 2015 showed he can win in this league.

I think its fair to question the return the Pats received by waiting so long to do a deal they lost any leverage.

A high second rounder beats compensatory pick they would have received when Jimmy walked at the end of the season, I think its clear from everything being written Jimmy had no plans to sign another deal with the Pats...he wants to play...now...not 3 years from now. Can't blame him...

Bad injury?? He had a sprain, could have played again last season if needed. No long term worries. It does make one wonder about his durability though. He got hurt and had to miss time after less than 2 full games...Brady hasn't missed a snap due to injury in 9 seasons and could have been 18 seasons but for the ACL

Brady isn't retiring after this season so there was no chance of keeping Jimmy to take over...

As for being more competitive?? Jimmy has ridden the bench for 4 years with exception of 2 games when Brady was suspended, he doesn't make us any more competitive....

If Brady gets hurt season is over anyway whether Jimmy is here or not...

Rodgers doesn't need my support. He's loving life & living large right now being on late night shows & repping one of the greatest movies. Rodgers is one of the few intellectual NFL players who don't need the NFL.

This is 'Tommy B's' year to finally enjoy his time on the cover.

This is 'Tommy B's' year to earn the cover.
Brady doesn't need your concern. Gisele has that covered. It must be a slow Biweek... .

No concern with Brady other than him being a millennial avocado at age 40, but he could probably pull off the youth thing. Biweek was 6 weeks ago.

Agreed but there's a likelihood of resentment/doubt if the season from fans if this season falls short of last season. It's not like they'll think they'll can bounce back next year. They'll be pushing for Brady to retire, and say he should leave onna higher note. Any loss in performance fans will think back to this year's deadline like it or not.
