The man had everything it appeared. Looks, athleticism, money, fame. He was an honored and respected pro football player. He lived in beautiful southern CA, and no doubt had beautiful woman (probably men too) beating down his door. What the hell caused him to take his own life? Boggles the mind. Hopefully, he left a note or a clue.
Maybe that plunge he took in 2010 was a suicide attempt. He had been arrested for domestic violence. This man had some serious skeletons in his closet obviously.
They're saying he shot himself in his chest to preserve his brain for medical study.
He knew something wasn't quite right about him, and no doubt it's because of all those hits he took to his head, re-arranged things.
Junior played HARD, really HARD. No doubt that had something to do with what happened to him.
Dave Duerson also shot himself in the chest last year and while it wasn't clear on Ray Easterling's recent suicide by firearm, he had begun civil action against the NFL for their "responsibilty" in his long-suffering condition related to concussions.
I am sad and very angry with him. He was well respected and could have gotten help from anyone. He should have seeked assistance through counseling. The worst part was his mother who is completely beside herself, I am very sad for her. Very Very selfish, Junior!!!
Isn't it pretty clear if you actually kill youself you are not right in the head? Someone thinking normally wouldn't do that. So pretty hard to make a rational decision when you aren't rational to start with.

Selfish?
If he had massive depression caused by a tumor as a result of repeated hits from his playing days?
(It's happening to a LOT of former players. I know a couple. It's one of the reasons they are re-thinking helmets. Not to mention a reason players are donating their brains to be studied after their deaths.)
And how do you know he didn't get counseling?
I no NOT understand the condemnation when we don't have ANY answers. SMH.

Ghengis is absolutely right.
In Dave Duerson's case I read a variety of items a year or so ago on the web on how far he fell mentally, not physically. There were several reports of him beating his wife, beating his kids, totally going postal with complete strangers on the street, and a variety of other things. If memory serves Duerson immediately apologized for his behavior and came straight out and said he didn't mean to do any of those things. I believe him. It was like he had demons inside him at times and felt the only way he could rid of the those demons and that was to end his life.
I'm watching live coverage on ESPN right now with a statement from Junior Seau's mom. I can't even imagine how his relatives are feeling.
