Default Why are the Eagles the favored to win the NFC East every season?

No matter how they finished the previous season, they always come in to a new season as the favored to win the division in the national media. The Eagles were knocked out in the first round in the 2009 season by Dallas and at the start of the 2010 season they were the favored. The Eagles were knocked out in the first round in 2011 by Green Bay and at the start of the 2011 season they were favored to win the NFC East. Last season they didn't make the playoffs at all and finished 8-8 and the Giants won the Superbowl and the Division and again

"The Philadelphia Eagles are the national media pick to win the NFC East" Some are even picking them to win the Superbowl after missing the playoffs last year. So why is it the Giants or Cowboys never ever are favored to win the division, two teams who has beaten the Eagles during the past 3 seasons. Is it that some of the national media people are undercover eagles fans? It really doesn't make any sense

Yeah, it gets annoying after a while. Every sports analyst seems to have their own expert, insider opinion. Some folks say the Eagles will finally have all that newly acquired talent together and ready to dominate. Some say the Giants are the automatic favorites because they've got a ring. The Cowboy homer analysts (there's a ton of them) always say that the Cowboys are "on the cusp" of being a championship team, yet they don't ever do much.

And finally, your nation's capital washington Redskins, are the sleeper pick for a lot of people. If RG3 can get it together quickly, we might be a force to be reckoned with. any knowledgable football fans who have paid attention closely to what the redskins have been doing the last few years might realize that they've been quietly picking up young, hungry talent

It's just beyond irritating to see a 24 hour sports channel devote so much attention to a team who hasn't won a playoff game since 2008 and hasn't made the SB since 2005. The Giants have won 2 SB since 2008 and you would never know it when watching ESPN

It's almost like they don't want you to know it which would make a 9 year old think the ESPN headquarters is located in Philadelphia

Another season and another thread about from TV about the biased reporting on Philly. Some things you can always count on.

No secret ESPN likes to follow certain stories and once Vick made the "dynasty" comment, they were off and running. However, living in Penna one would expect more Eagles coverage than other teams.

Living in NE Illinois I had to watch Milwaukee TV or listen to Wisconsin radio to get Packer info, Illinois stations all about the Bears, as it should be. I was lucky to be 10 miles from the border so getting TV from Milwaukee or Chicago was easy and I could follow both teams!

ESPN makes it clear they have no interest in discussing the MIDWEST NFL TEAMS. They will talk maninly about

Pats
Jets
Giants
Eagles

The Cowboys haven't done much in the last 14-15 seasons. So it's not surprising they don't get a lot of hype pre-season. The Redskins have been bad for the most part over the last decade plus. That leaves the Giants and Eagles. The Giants have had a habit of playing decent for most of the season and then turning things on down the stretch.
