I enjoy this simply because it makes Goodell look stupid.

When they first contested the suspension, the NFL offered a settlement. Local radio show said "don't settle! They're offering settlement because they know they'll lose and have egg on their face". Guess the local radio show was right.

"While the panel did not address the merits of the NFL's bounty investigation, it said Goodell overstepped his authority in hearing the players' appeals of their punishment for their roles in the Saints bounty program that paid cash bonuses for hits that injured opponents. The panel's decision states that special master Stephen Burbank, not Goodell, should discipline players for receiving money from a pool that paid for big plays. Goodell's role, the panel said, should be limited to whether he can prove the players intended to injure opponents, which would fall in the category of conduct detrimental to the game."

Arbitrator just ruled that Gooddell didn't have the authority to determine the punishment for the bounty program portion; he can only discipline the players on the intentional injury portion. This doesn't mean the players are off the hook. They'll just receive different punishment later (including suspensions) for each violation.

Exactly. Now they'll probably be suspended even longer. Once for injury and once for the bounties. This is going to have the same outcome in the long run. This is just stalling the inevitable.

I wonder if they could have over-turned Michael Crabtree's busted ACL, if they had actually gone out and did what they had planned?

Greg Williams Saints Bounty Audio - YouTube

That's Crabtree's career.....!!! And it might end it!! These Saints would continue to play again at some time!

This should NEVER have been over-turned!!

The problem is that Gooddell has to be able to prove they had the intent to injure. I'm not sure how you would go about doing that.

When you get down to the proverbial bottom line, what's really happened here is that the league's authority has been challenged. And the challenge trumped the league. So we may all look forward to repeat performances by other teams, now that everyone understands perfectly well that they can't be disciplined.
