The Baltimore fans had some uncompoimentary words for the refs, which chanted by thousands. slipped through the censors and fell on the tender ears of babes in arms. I will be following this closely to see if the FCC levies millions of dollars in fines on NBC and all the local NBC affiliates for letting these chants of "Bull S***" go on the air, endangering the delicate sensitivities of the American people.

To me the replacement refs are close the regular refs because of the slimy way they keep a team's drive alive with a bogus flag.

So the real question is should we even continue watching the NFL due to the slimy officials?

don't be ridiculous, you'll be watching...and if by some miracle you'd stop watching, the nfl would find a replacement fan to take your place.

the NFL knows we'll all be watching and that's why they will never give in the the striking officials because they know the grip that their product holds on most of America and I doubt there is one person in the country that will refuse to buy beer or snack chips because some guy in a zebra costume is undertaking on-the-job training.

in fact, it adds one more talking point for us to grouse about on Mondays...

I've changed my mind, the more Bill Belichick gets angered by officiating the better, so keep them

The refs completely altered the game last night. I would be saying the same thing if they were the normal refs. What a terribly officiated game.

That pats/Ravens game was horrid. 30 penalties. MY GOD. it's ruining the integrity of the game. It's not the refs fault, they're not qualified to officiate at this level and they're trying their best.

It would've been one thing if they were getting better as the season goes on, but they're getting worse. Week 3 was the worst performance by the replacement refs so far.

Here is a picture of Kyle Shanahan chasing down the refs in the tunnel after yesterdays' game, and apparently he called them "effing *bleeps" for blowing the game on a no-call pass interference late in the game. The Redskins receiver was double teamed, and one defender pushed him in the back, and the other defender put an arm around him, and he was not looking back for the ball. that would've set the Redskins up inside the 5 yard line with a chance to tie.

The CBS team calling the game said on that play "that was an obvious penalty, that's your textbook pass interference. And there was an official no more than 10 yards from the play. You've gotta make that call."

It doesn't help that every year there are new rules put in place to protect the players. They might as well play while wearing inflatable sumo-wrestler suits the way things are going. I don't want to see players get hurt, but defenses are being put at a huge disadvantage now, and these refs have only a fraction of a second to determine if a hit was clean or not. Pass interference is another one that either gets missed a lot or called too much. That is the one I would really like to see them get right. It's the most costly penalty and can really make the difference in a close game.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Belichick.

At the end of the game, Patriots coach Bill Belichick grabbed an official as he was leaving the field in what looked like an attempt to speak with him. The official never broke stride, ignoring Belichick's grasp and continuing off the field.

It is a big deal if a player touches an official.

I think if the NFL was serious about that memo they sent out before the weekend about berating officials, Bill should get a one game suspension if the NFL wants to really hit home with their message.
