This really isn't political, so I apologize if it technically violates the rules. But I thought it might be interesting to have a little Sunday poll on the football games today. I can only pick ten teams, so I'll pick ones from geographic areas where a lot of people who frequent the forum are from.

*public poll

You know there is a sports subforum on here. Pick the Broncos.

I know, but since I post here most often I thought I would get a poll of what the people here think.

Since this is the political forum, here is my opinion. We're in an era where politicians have put one restriction after another on tobacco, mostly because use thereof takes maybe 5-10 years off lifespan. We've got a First Lady running around trying to tell food companies how much sodium they are allowed to use. A NY mayor telling us how many ounces of sugary soda we can buy at a time. And so on.

A study found that the average NFL player who plays at least 5 years has a lifespan of only 55 years (avg in US is 78). If we are logically consistent, we've got to ban NFL football. So I guess my vote is 'none of the above.'

I have this good feeling about the Giants, even though I acknowledge the 49ers as the better team.

I only follow the NFL in the playoffs - college football is much more interesting.

I do agree that the NFL puts a better product onto the field - but I can't get interested in weekly matchups.

I didn't vote because I don't know who is playing who today.

I suppose I will take the Patriots(Republicans) over the Bills(Democrats/Clinton).

Also - the Cowboys and Packers because they are from states with GOP governors.

there are twelve teams playing today, why are there only ten teams in the poll? Where are the Texans and the Ravens???

I didn't quite understand the purpose of it, not having all the teams.

Ummm,

Done a little bit of checking on this thread as the posters on posts 1 through 5 are people I'm not familiar with.

It originated on the Politicians/Other Controversies forum and got moved here just before Htown commented on post#7, presumably a couple hours ago.. And yes, there are a couple games absent on the Sunday lineup missing here; Cincinnati at Cleveland and Kansas City at Tampa Bay. The game Monday is Denver at San Diego.

A tip to the OP: Regarding geographics from the standpoint on the pro football subforum, several teams have a lot of interest here and several clubs don't. Take a look at team thread activity here on the forum. The team thread with the most activity is the Pitttsburgh Steelers. Right behind them is the Denver Broncos, with both clubs well over 3000 posts. Sadly several clubs don't get much action here, one of them being Kansas City. They don't even have 100.

Later tonight I'll get back to this thread and give a post count on various NFL team threads.

AH! that explains a lot.

Silly to pick teams based on politics tho. Most teams play in major cities that differ wildly from their state in terms of political make up.

It feels odd talking about politics here. I don't think this thread belongs here.

Don't think this thread belongs anywhere to be honest. Unless I am missing more.
