What's wrong with the Eagles? Good question.
I always think when a team falls down like this, there is more than one reason.
McNabb was a great quarterback. When he went to Washington, his best days were done. No, you cant compare Vick to McNabb as Eagles. I'm not sure if Vick ever had much talent, although his first year in the league he was a lot of fun to watch. And then he got hurt. Sometimes players dont come back after a big hurt. Then he was out of the league for a while.
Losing Akers wasnt good, but like someone said, a kicker shouldnt make that much diff on a team.
Andy Reid a great coach. But its just not working in Philly for him anymore.
The loss of Jim Johnson was really big. His defense was scary and kept the team in the game more than once.
And Tebow isnt the answer either.
Besides, Philly fans would eat him alive.

I always thought Jim Johnson was overrated because the defense never rose to the occasion in big games like

the NFC championship
2002
2003
2004
2009

The SB 2005

I always said that he was a DC that received too much praise to never have a ring.

I dont remember those games Tvguy. I dont know if the defense was to blame or was the offense. So I cant respond to your post.
Except generally the defense cant get the ring by themselves. The exception being the Ravens in SB xxxv.

So you are saying that all the playoff losses the eagles had from 2002 to 2009 had nothing at all to do with the defense?

What about the NFC championship game in 2009 when the eagles led 24-6 in the second half and the defense allowed the cards offense to take a 25-24 lead?

No, I didnt say that. I did say I dont remember those games. However 2009 game tells me it was the defense in that game. A team cant come back that much unless the opponents defense slips up.
You thought Jimmy Johnson was overrated because he never got a ring. I said the defense generally cant get a ring by themselves. The offense could be to blame.
Come on, Jimmy Johnson was generally acknowledged as a defensive whiz.

But it pissed me off that in that 2009 loss to the cards the offense was blamed when they had to come back and take the lead 25-24 after being down 24-6 in the first half.

Aha. Now the truth comes out. It was one game that put you off on Johnson.
I assume you are an Eagles fan?

No I;m not a Eagles Fan but I got so tired of Mcnabb and Reid being blamed after every playoff loss when the defense also played a role in the loss by giving up points.

I always thought you were a die-hard Philly sports fan. Please tell me you don't root for New York teams!
