There are many single-season NFL records in danger of being broken in 2012, with two games left to play.
Calvin Johnson (1,667) is chasing Jerry Rice's receiving yardage record (1,848).
Adrian Peterson needs 294 rushing yards to break Eric Dickerson's 2,105-yard mark.
Both Aldon Smith and J.J. Watt sit at 19.5 sacks, three away from tying Michael Strahan's benchmark of 22.5. How many of these records will end up being broken?
Jason Witten is 5 catches away from breaking the record for catches by a TE in a season.
Patriots need 84 points more to break the NFL record for most points in a season.
I think that at the very least, Aldon or JJ tie the sack record. They've each only got to get three more sacks. One of the Texans' games is against the Colts, against whom JJ Watt was sack-tacular, and the Niners' finale is against the Cards, which I'm predicting will be an all-out sack binge for Aldon Smith.

I like Aldon Smith's chances against Arizona. The Cardinals are the blue plate special for sacks.
I like Peterson's chances of breaking the rush record.
I'm most betting on Megatron since Stafford has really no one else to throw to.

I'm worried about Peterson. I want him to break the rushing record more than anybody else breaking their respective records.
But Houston has to win on Sunday to secure Homefield advantage, so they'll be bringing their A game. Houston has a pretty solid defense, and with no Percy Harvin, the Vikes have been nothing but ALL DAY the last month. Though other teams have failed to stop Peterson lately, I think the Texans might be able to contain him somewhat, possibly holding him to around 100 yards....meaning he would need nearly 200 against the Packers week 17
Witten is a lock, and JJ Watt or Smith will get the 3 sacks. Peterson and Calvin Johnson I think will fall short, but Calvin Johnson could go either way. He has to average 90 yards receiving over the last 2 games, but is averaging 120 a game. For some reason, though, I think he has a down game against the Falcons tomorrow night. Patriots don't have a shot, as much as I would like to see for my fantasy football team with Brady as QB, I don't see them scoring 84 points in the next 2 games.
