Question: Why doesn't Los Angeles have a football team?

Answer: Because they can't f***in' keep one!

Seriously, three.... THREE NFL teams, and you can't keep ONE?

-L.A. had the CHARGERS.... moved to San Diego.

-L.A. had the RAMS.... moved to St. Louis.

-L.A. had the RAIDERS.... moved FROM Oakland to L.A. and then moved BACK to the city they moved away from. LOL

But seriously, L.A. just can't seem to get one. And maybe it is support problems....

Or maybe the city can't afford it? Wasn't that the reason they lost the Rams and Raiders in '94?

It has USC, but it seems to be a fair weather football city.

I used to live in the LA area and the fans are way too fair-weathered to support an NFL team. Most of them half-heartedly supported the Raiders and wouldn't care about them if the team was sub-.500 and the rest of them claimed to be Dallas or Pittsburgh "fans". Look at the other LA sports teams: they won't sell out unless the team is a powerhouse or damn near one of the best in the league. Look at the Lakers attendance compared to the Clippers for example.

There are a few reasons:

1. Coliseum is considered an historical landmark which means very little can be done to it to bring it up to date with all the luxury boxes needed to lure a team and generate revenue from corporate sales of those boxes.

2. Everyone wants a team here, but no one wants to pay for it. Politicians, business, fans, etc. but they want 100% of the money to come from private investors and not from the city or county.

3. You have a LOT of people who live here who moved from other parts of the country because its a better place to live. Unfortunately, those folks still have allegiances to their "home teams" and probably not support a home team unless its an instant winner.

4. Few potential owners are floating ideas around like building a stadium in Irwindale or places not really part of Los Angeles but in the outlining areas where property is relatively cheap. Problem with this, is that it would not be "Hollywood" enough to lure a team or garner fan support that will sell out the building. Those places are far out in the "Boondocks" and "BFE" where people just do not go.

There are a few other issues as well, but Im sure the NFL will eventually figure out a way to get a team here. They just stand to continue to lose too much money from profit sharing by not having a team here.

Even though I hate the Raiders and the criminal/gang bangers that attended the Raider games here and did all the stabbings, assaults, etc. at the game, I wish they would have gone ahead and built a stadium in Inglewood near the Forum and Hollywood Park where there was plenty of land available so that the Raiders would have stayed. That is/was a super prime location in the center of the city, very near LAX and fwys that would have made a great location for a stadium. Now, it'll never happen.
