Here is an interesting article in the LA Times about the NFL and their denial of the head injuries involved with playing football.

NFL is a despicable league that we should say goodbye to, but won't - latimes.com

and here is the PBS Frontline special about the NFL and head injuries every fan probably should watch- you will not see football in the same way again.

Sounds like the LA times are bitter about not having an NFL franchise in their city.

That would be my guess.

Today's athletes know the risks, and are well paid for playing the game....

I watched the frontline special. Honestly the more I think about this the more similar the current knowledge feels to chemical companies that knowingly exposed employees to cancer causing agents.

I love the NFL and football but this seemingly is an issue that will need to be addressed. I think we could see a congressional comittee take this on.

Look at people like the San Diego LB or people like Andre Waters from my squad. Think something is going to have to give. Sadly it would seem a wholesale change to protect head would likely make the NFL un-interesting as the physicality is the issue

Boxing has a similar dynamic

this is scary actually...
