Another by Coleman which was a matchup between the Colts and the 49ers in 1998 followed by the Colts Patriots game in the 2003 AFC Championship Game as well as the Steelers Ravens in 2008 and the Eagles Cowboys game in 2009. These are all by Walt Coleman.

Which calls are you referring to?

Them all. Those are all the controversy that Walt Coleman went through but I don't know which one was controversial the most.

Today Dolphins played the Patriots during a field goal the officials called Cortland Finegan for Running to the Kicker. I did not see a running into the kicker penalty at all and that is a pretty bad call.

I would also say the Wild Card Game between Detroit and Cowboys: defensive interference flag picked up and the interference against the Ravens last year.

Some of what people generalize as extremely poor calls, and much so in the Patriots case, can be missing the point about rules.

The Tuck Rule - based on the rule that was currently in the rule books, it was the correct call. The rule sucked and thus was changed, but at the time if you understand the rules you cannot call against them just because you think it's a bad rule. Same goes for the playoff game this year where Belichick understood a rule no one else cared to study and exploited it. That rule too got changed.

Now calls like the Dez Bryant play - that's a more subjective call on the field - what is a catch. Small things can subtle that 2 people can look at the same play and judge it differently.

I would also say Suh's wing to the back of the head against Jay Cutler. One announcer said it was a two-hand punch.

Exactly right, there are plenty of "bad calls" to argue but the tuck rule doesn't qualify....

You may argue that it was a "bad rule" and the NFL apparently thought so as well when they later abolished but at the time it was called in 2001 it was a properly applied rule and absolutely the "correct call" it isn't even arguable...for those that argue that it had never been used before they are mistaken it had been called that very season AGAINST the Pats vs Jets...

Interestingly for all the butt hurt Raiders fans out there, one of the WORST OFFICIATING CALLS EVER occurred in the favor of the Raiders over the Patriots in 1976...

I'm old enough to remember the call and it stung for a long time, Pats were leading the Raiders 13-10 when Ben Dreith called a phantom roughing the passer on Ken Stabler by Ray Hamiliton....cost the Pats the game when they were probably the best team in the NFL that year.

25 years later karma reared its head finally for the Raiders....

There was a call last night that should have been a fumble for the Seattle Seahawks. I think Clete Blakeman got the call wrong.

Officiating has been suspect in both the NFL and college lately. I understand the incredible pressure and scrutiny referees are under, but some calls/missed-calls just appear bone-headed.
