To answer the OP, Yes, I'd rename the team. I suggest we call them the Washington Warriors.

It honors ALL who've fought, from Native Americans to all our veterans.

With 8 home games each season there could be a game with a special theme to honor each of these:
- Native Americans
- Revolutionary War soldiers
- Army
- Navy
- Marines
- Air Force
- Buffalo Soldiers / Custer, etc
- Vietnam veterans

OR you could set aside each of those games with a theme such as:
- Red Cloud
- Geronimo
- Sitting Bull
- Chief Joseph
- Tecumseh
- Crazy Horse
- Cochise
- Chief Pontiac

Warriors speaks to brave hearted and fearless men, a trait we think that football players possess.

Or we could get cheeky and call the team Washington Lobbyists, and rewrite the fight song because after they do their thing, we get scalped!

Hail to the Lobbyists!
Hail Victory!
Money on the Warpath!
Buy up old D.C.!
Lie or cheat to score -- we want a lot more!
Beat 'em, Swamp 'em,
Loophole! -- Let our smarmy greed soar!
Fight on, fight on 'Til you have it all
Thieves of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah!
Hail to the Lobbyists!
Hail Victory!
Money is now Free Speech!!

Okay, I have too much free time.....

I would rename them the Redskins as Washington is very offensive.

This is what I'm trying to figure out. I know "Redskins" is deemed offensive, but how and why is "Washington" deemed offensive. I'm just trying to make sense of it all. Like, if it's offensive then why keep just "Redskins". What's offensive about "Washington"???? I'm a little confused at the moment...

I also love that ESPN writer who refers to the team as the "Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Peoples."

Well, since there actually was a Potomac (alternate spelling of Patawomeck) tribe, how about just changing the name to "Potomacs" and make the logo an accurate representation of a Potomac tribesman?

it's suppose to be funny in an ironic sort of way, which Dover's original post was. however too often unoriginal amateur comedians attempt something that they shouldn't try...
