Since this controversy has suddenly become loudest this year, it seems the name will changed eventually.

If or when this happens what would you like the new name to be?

I think the easiest solution would be to name of the team to "The Warriors".

That way perhaps they could choose to keep the native american theme but it would not be perceived as offensive, or change it to a more "patriotic/american" theme ( perhaps featuring soldiers/military.)

In an effort to address the obvious affront to decent sensibilities caused by the name "Washington Redskins," I propose they shorten it to just "Redskins."

Well said.

I also love that ESPN writer who refers to the team as the "Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Peoples."

I kind of like the "Washington Elite". It's a strong name giving kudos to the attitude that exists there where they are above everyone else. The mascot can be an obese politician in a suit holding wads of cash. The new colors? Red, White, and Blue of course.

I would presume that "Rednecks" would be embraced by everyone quite well...you know, it's an honor thing.

However, I have heard they are going to in fact drop "Washington" from the name and just use "Redskins" because it's just too offensive.

A couple have beat me to the punch here, but I'll echo the sentiment of dropping "Washington" from the name, because I find that part of the name offensive, LOL!

Redskins sounds like a good alternative.
