As much criticism that the Mile High City gets for the thin air, etc., here's a little stat of their own regarding the new NFL record; temperature on the field is around 10 degrees.
Unbelievable kick, amazing! Never mind the thin air, don't the single digit temps make the football heavier???
Cold air is more dense, so the friction on the ball as it sails through the air is higher. So while the thin air is an advantage, the temperature mitigates that to a high degree. A 64 yarder is pretty impressive regardless of location and temp, though. I'm really glad for Prater. He is having a pretty impressive year, and that just adds to it.

Not only that but when the ball is cold the surface has a lot less give to it. That has to be like kicking a brick.
I thought he was crazy trying that field goal with the temps plummeting at that point in the game. Good to be there for this one.
Good to see this guy back!
Oh, and saw my buddy from La Junta, La Junta Econ Devel up there when we were leaving! What are the odds of that?
