I think he's a good coach though and would be able to work well with Stafford and that offense - if he brought back Ray Horton from the Cleveland scrap heap (if Cleveland actually releases him at some point) then that could be a pretty good duo of coaches for the Lions

Just make sure you have a strong GM in front of him and keep him away from the personnel decisions
One glaring issue about this Detroit franchise:

Sure, we've made some outstanding picks in the draft, but when we draft lousily......it's REALLY bad.

Not sure what Lewand & Mayhew are thinking sometimes.....but then again.....I'm not a GM or Personnel Director.......

Regarding Whisenhunt:

After the Cards' SuperBowl appearance, they totally dismantled the team. Coach Whiz got stuck with a lot of mediocre players, and everyone around these parts (Phoenix), really didn't expect much.

Every one of these coaches will pop right into another HC or coordinator position within days or weeks, either at the pro or collegiate level and do so making the high six figures (if not over a million). Fail. Rinse. Repeat.

Anyway, that's what's running through my mind as I read these news reports. Ho-hum.
True.

You won't see me doing this........so much when a coach gets canned. Look at Schwartz. He can take some time off for a couple of years and still make 12 million smackeroos.

But you won't be seeing him on the TV.

Because the media hates him so much.

Exactly. It didn't even occur to me that they still rake in the ammount they would have gotten paid due to their contracts. Must be nice for sure.

Chud is going to make $10.5 million.

Yes & No - they were in the playoffs the next year and were a heavy favorite to win the division (all preseason hype was between them & SF) the year Seattle won it with 7 wins

You can't sever him from the player moves though - when he reworked his deal in 2010 to get his extension he cashed in to get more voice in the moves .... that is about the same time everything started to fall apart

He's an offensive coach who had a direct impact at brining in some high priced/under performing FAs along the OL, QB is tough to find but he handled that position about as poorly as you can with a large FA contract to Derek Anderson and running out guys like Max Hall and Ryan Lindley

He did do a great job in the culture shift out here though, has done well in SD this year and overall I think he's a high quality HC ..... but one that should probably be somewhat limited to just coaching

He was certainly not the answer. Shanny has a rather inflated sense of his accomplishments, owing to the 2 Super Bowl championships he won in Denver. What he still doesn't get is that this team was in place before he got to Denver, and Dan Reeves had already given the team a lot of its identity. What it was missing was a running game, a pass rusher, and someone who could get along with John Elway, who was the real offensive coordinator on that team, no matter what Shanny wants everyone to believe. I give credit to Shanny for helping the team win two Super Bowls - his predecessor couldn't get it done - but he's not nearly as great as he thinks he is.

Criticism of Shanny aside, RGIII has nobody to blame anymore. I've always sensed the RGIII was above some of the stuff that's been said about him in the papers, but whether he realizes it or not, cozying up to the owner and having published reports that Griff's pop is somehow in on who gets to coach next year is just setting up for a perfect locker room disaster next year. I blame Snyder for his meddling, but when it all melts down, half the locker room will support RGIII, and the other half could end up hating him.

Rumors are swirling he has Jeff Tedford linedup as an OC should he get hired as a head coach.

Why isn't Jason Garrett, Callahan, and Kiffin on the list?
