NFL Commissioner will propose a rule change to drop the PAT. In its place, touchdown will be 7 points. Team will have the option to try for a one point run/throw play. But if they miss scoring, one point will be deducted from the touch down.
The 2 point conversion is successful only 33% of the time, so I'm wondering how many teams would vote for this change.

Yes, he does. It's not his game. He needs to stop inflicting his vision on the game and the league as a whole. London games? Ugh. Phasing out kicks? PATs? It's time to phase Goodell out. Before he screws up the game!

What exactly is the purpose of the extra point? It was attempted over 1200 times and only missed 5 times. I completely agree with Godell, the PAT is a formality and a waste of time.

I think the way things are right now are just fine, if you want the 7 points you kick, if you want to try for 8 you go for the 2 point conversion. I think there are bigger issues then the PAT.

I have no objection to doing away with the PAT if only as a time saving measure. The game needs to be sped up.

If only they would do away with all of the artificial breaks in the game to fit in commercials. Cut back on commercials and charge more for the premium advertising space. They'll still make out like bandits.

If you view the "spirit" of the game of football, the PAT is nothing more then a formality. A missed PAT is about as rare as a fumble occurrence when a team is taking a knee to run out the clock in the final moments of a game.

The game and precision has changed. Most games are played in climate controlled stadiums, it's technical, it's precise, each position perfected, each player's skills at peak level, it's based on computer models and scenarios. The wing-it, heart and will of the game are fading. Putting a change to the PAT is a small step at creating "fight" back into the game!

Ever watched today's place kickers before an NFL game going through their warmups? It's ridiculous! They kick about 100, snap-hold-kicks from 30 yards out to about 55 yards AND NEVER MISS!!!! The pressure of the game is the only thing that makes a modern day place kicker miss anything! These guys are total perfectionists! Masters at their skills. Hell, I even suggest moving the uprights in 3-4 ft. Kickers are making 95% of their kicks. Get inside the 30 yard line of your opponent and you can add 3 points on the board.

My suggestion..........eliminate the PAT kick, but keep the 2 point PAT run/pass

Field goals..........1 point for FG of 30 yards or less
.........................2 points for FG of 30-50 yards
.........................3 points for field goals of over 50 yards.

Leave the width of the goal posts alone.

Keep PAT's and drop the Pro Bowl!! How about that compromise Goodell??
