Haha. "Control" is a flattering word. He's like the clown in the circus that drives the car all over the place to amuse the audience. And more than that, he'll open his mouth and SAY hilarious things to magnify the effect! But, hey, I think the owners and coaches in his division maybe appreciate him more than Dallas fans do. Keep it up Jerry. The G-Men want a comeback. If you release your control on anything, your high priced talent might suddenly start being division rivals! We don't want "America's Team" back that much.

As a Redskins fan I enjoy a Jerry Jones bashing like the rest of us. But we are bashing a guy for having a .500 record and Millen and Snyderatto never got close to that level.

Until Jerry Jones creates a roster that goes 0-16, he is not the worst.

Matt Millen. Worst GM ever.

There are GMs who never win. And there are GMs that spend lavishly and only win .500. Same to me.

There is a salary cap. Jerry can't really spend any more lavishly on his roster than any other GM.

I think Jerry is as good or better than most GMs when it comes to finding talent otherwise you wouldn't hear the mantra about all the talent the Cowboys have year in and year out.

The issue with Jerry is his hands on approach in other aspects of the club. He wants to pick all the coaches, negating his head coaches role in that area. He picks the assistants and the coordinators taking that power away from the HC. IMO, that undermines the HC ability to lead the team. I think most of the assistants know that they don't really answer to Jason, but Jerry... some of the players may feel the same way, at least the higher salaried players.

All the talent in the world is not much use without a good leader and that's where the Cowboys are lacking. Jerry wants to lead and that undermines the HC which causes inconsistency on the field IMO. You saw what happened when Bill Parcells was in town. The club improved immediately and actually made the Playoffs with Quincy Carter at QB.

Jason Garrett might be a great coach but he can't lead because Jerry wants to lead and there is no end in sight. I think Jerry is hoping that Garrett learns how to lead or co lead, as you will. The bottom line is, Garrett knows he is just lucky to have a HC job and will not rock the boat like a proven winning HC would do...

Total joke. Watch programs on TV where they really go into that. Its a numbers game. Look at what Jerry gave Romo. Mr. .500. Somehow the "salary cap" didn't prevent that "treat my QB as elite and he will BECOME elite". I can see Flacco getting his deal (sort of). But Romo? What if he'd picked up and left? Jerry couldn't find another .500 quarterback? He could have grabbed Carson Palmer before Arizona got him. I mean .500 quarterbacks are pretty plentiful. Plus he replaced Rob Ryan with Monte Kiffin. Was that brilliant?

Yeh, you can find GM's who simply weren't fit for the pro game, but Jones is a pretty good joke to me (don't expect ardent Boys fans to agree)

Or............you could cite some kind of intelligent source on the salary cap matter in lieu of rambling on about Romo.

Speaking of which, let's see what the Cowboys have done the last decade:

6-10
9-7
9-7 (wild card)
13-3 (division champ)
9-7
11-5 (division champ, playoff win)
6-10
8-8
8-8
8-8

87-73, 1-3 in the playoffs

No doubt underachieving, but worst GM in football? C'mon. Over the last decade the Cowboys have a winning record and have won a playoff game.

The Detroit Lions under Matt Millen were:

2-14
3-13
5-11
6-10
5-11
3-13
7-9
0-16

31-97, never once making the playoffs. You can not seriously say Jerry Jones has done worse than that.

Matt Millen. He could probably be nominated for worse all-time in any sport.

List of Dallas Cowboys seasons - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My calculations say that from 1989-2013, the Cowboys are .536. Not sure where that puts them. But in the long term, in Jones' ownership, they are pretty middle-of-the-pack. Last 4 years, 8-8 every year. The last four years are TYPICAL Cowboys finishes in Jerry Jones' years. Their best years were when Troy Aikman was there. When he quit, the team has been anything but America's team.
