There has to be at least a lot of them. Matt Millen, who served as GM for the Lions from 2001-2008, would come to mind. At the BYE week of week 4 in the 2008 season is when the Lions fired Millen. I would also say Jerry Jones. I'm just curious to see who would be one of the worst general managers in NFL history.

I second Jerry Jones. The guy's ego is so huge that he'll completely forego common sense and throw money at fliers in the draft just to prove to the naysayers that he's the one responsible for the Cowboys' success in the '90s.

As bad as he is at judging talent, he's even worse at salary management. The Cowboys are a .500 team yet because of Jerry's bungling they're on the verge of salary cap hell.

Jerry Jones gets my vote! Him and his monstrous bus parked everywhere at the combine in Indy. He is a piece of work and the reason that team can't excel.

I'll throw Vinny Cerrato's name out there.

Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones are owners. But the people who work for them might be among the worst.

Marty Hurney

- Gave a $20 million signing bonus to Jake Delhomme right after an underwhelming stats-wise season in 2008 topped by a turnover-fest that was embarrassing in the playoffs at home and got a 8 TD and 18 INT season for the money.

- Let Julius Peppers leave town and not get any compensation for him when pass-rush is a top commodity these days.

- Gave Jonathan Stewart a $36.5 million contract for a #2 RB. Hated being left with that contract.

Jerry Jones is more than an owner, he is in control of everything, including being on the field at game time.

Agreed. Jerry is the GM in title. If he were just an owner the Cowboys would probably be a perennial contender because he's a genius businessman, but he's an idiotic football guy.

When people used to talk about coaches and general managers, I always thought they were overrated and that the players were what mattered. Then Matt Millen happened to my beloved Lions. Not that they were anything to be proud of in my lifetime but they were one game away from a playoff birth the year before Millen too over. They would win less games in the next 3 years under Millen than they did in '00. His "brilliant" strategy of drafting wide receivers in the first round was a real winner.

Dude was cancer. CANCER!!!
