The Green Bay Packers were founded in 1919. They were originally known as the Acme Packers. In 1920 or 1921 when the NFL started up the Packers moved there. The Packers earned the nickname "Titletown" because they have the most NFL titles in NFL history, although not the most Super Bowl titles. Packers head coach Vince Lombardi and Packers quarterback Bart Starr led the Packers to the first two and won the first two Super Bowls. Bart Starr was head coach for the Packers in the 70s through I think the mid 80s. Starr, Paul Hornung, Don Hutson, Curly Lambeau (in which Lambeau Field is named after him), James Lofton, Larry McCarren (current Packers radio commentator alongside Wayne Larrivee), and Elijah Pitts are all hall of famers. I don't even know if Brett Favre will be a hall of famer for Green Bay.

Brett Favre came to Green Bay in 1991 as a backup for Don Majkowski and eventually became the starter under Mike Holmgren when Majkowski got hurt. Also Sterling Sharpe was a teammate of Favre through 1994 when he had that career ending injury. The Packers and Brett Favre made back to back Super Bowl appearences since Super Bowls I and II. The Packers won the first one against the Patriots but lost to Denver and John Elway the year after. Packers would not make another Super Bowl appearence until their win in Super Bowl 45 over the Steelers when Aaron Rodgers was named MVP and current coach Mike McCarthy was named winning coach.

After 1999 when Ray Rhodes was fired, Mike Sherman was hired as their head coach through the 2005 season when he was replaced by current head coach Mike McCarthy. The 2011 season was their best franchise performance, breaking their 2007-2008 season record.
