Sorry, I can't find a SINGLE article online saying 24 owners want the expansion. I wonder what will happen if the owners meet and give Goodell the thumbs down. Here's one wrinkle. If you delete a preseason game, do you reduce the cost of a season ticket? Because half the teams won't PLAY the extra game. Only they can substitute a playoff ticket for the lost preseason game. They say "extra money", but for whom? Just to fatten up the league office? And then what happens to the salary cap? If a team does make money, how do the fans come out ahead? Teams that have no cap room can't improve their roster with that money. I think in the USA, extra money is a phrase that triggers lower brain functions at the expense of rationality. Like Pavlov's bell.

Well, its gonna happen whether you like it or not and the reason is MONEY! I would be surprised if MOST owners didn't approve of the move. There might be a hold out or two but invariably, it will be signed off by the owners because they will make more money and that what they are all in this for, money..

Need to bookmark this so I know which person we need to come back to when it doesn't. Everybody has a crystal ball when something's in the future. But the future always arrives, then where are the prognosticators?

So if it doesn't happen, you get to come back and say

I get to point out that some people's "absolute certainty" is evidence of a foggy mind.

Everyone deserves a chance. I'm tired of all this competition.

Right. Let's aim for a 32 team playoff solution. Not one or two extra games, a whole WEEK of extra games.

In 1989, 10 out of 28 teams made the playoffs. 35%.

In 1990, 12 out of 28 teams made the playoffs. 42%.

In 2013, 12 out of 32 teams made the playoffs. 37.5%

If two more teams are added, 14 out of 32 make the playoffs. 43%

Can someone please explain using actual intelligence why moving to 14 teams is so bad and watering things down? The NFL has added teams since the last playoff expansion. The move to 14 puts in line with where the 1990 expansion put the NFL. Did everyone **** and moan then?

Who said any of us were okay with the bloated playoff setup of 1990-2001? I think it is perfect the way it is now. The postseason is supposed to be restricted to the BEST teams only. Why water it down with more teams?

Its a money grab. I think Mark Cuban was on to something when basically the fat get greedy. He made a few other points all highlighting problems the NFL may have in the future if they aren't careful, and greed is definitely one of them.

There is nothing wrong with the system the way it is now. Don't add regular season games, don't add another team to the playoffs. They are going to dilute this so much that after it people wont care because there is always going to be something NFL on. There is a point--believe it or not, NFL--that over saturation starts to hurt the product and you wind up with diminishing returns. The NFL seems to determined to ruin a good formula right now.
